I think Cooper's main mistake so far is sticking rigidly to the tactics from last year. Just seems to leave us too open plus without Spence we don't offer that same attacking threat.
You could see it against Everton already but also vs Bournemouth in particular that it just wasn't going to work. I hope he maintains the tactics we played during the second half. Plus this allows us to play Lingard again too in a position where he can play a role closer to where he played at West Ham.
Otherwise the selection vs Bournemouth was odd but he rectified that in this game and it did not help as Boly and Freuler were our two worst players! I thought Worrall looked much better when he came on.

To be honest if he doesn't want to sign a new contract, then I really hope the club have a new man already lined up, I get the feeling that if Brighton or say Leicester(if they sack Rodgers) he'd be off like a ahot.
I was one of his biggest supporters and always wanted him here as our manager ever since I saw the way his Swansea city destroyed us in a cup game at Swansea, but now I have become more sceptical of him, I honestly think that he will dump us in favour of moving on to another club in the prem.
If we get beat at Leicester(which I'm expecting) and he continues with his team selection especially at Leicester, then I really fear for us, it's almost as if he wants out.

The inference in the article is very interesting. As in the only reason we want him to extend his contract is financial. Cooper is a human being and, i guess, like the rest of us probably wants to feel valued in his workplace. Not sure that this is the way to make him feel this - IF accurate.
Lots of gossip at the game on Friday re Dyche & we all know he will be in the Premier League again before the season ends.This now feels like crunch time and one way or another a decision is going to have to be made.

It feels like some are rewriting the narrative on Cooper now to pave the way for when he goes:
Didnt want to sign a new contract
Owner generously spends £150m on new Players and Cooper doesn’t want them or cant get the best out of them.
Out of his depth in the PL, was he ever that good or did he just have one lucky season.
No, we need to get rid and bring in some proper experience like Dyche or Rodgers.
I dont buy any of that. He is without doubt our best manager in the last 25 years and god knows we’ve tried enough of them, we've had people here with better CVs than either Dyche or Rodgers too who have failed.
To part with Cooper now is madness in my opinion, we should move heaven and earth to make him happy, resolve any issues and make him want to sign a new deal.

Absolutely agree. I can understand the criticism of him not playing some of the new players however. If the club bought players he didn't want, then that's on the ub, not Cooper. Having said that, he also shouldn't be pig headed about selection. Perhaps he is trying to give the old guard a fair crack to see if they can cope with the Prem before moving to the new players to try and keep a core team spirit from last season?
As I said in another thread, I think Cooper is vital to us as a club. If we go down, then fine, but I want him to bring us back up and I am convinced he would, and in alot better state than we came up this year.

He definitely didn’t want to sign a new contract, I’ve been posting that here for months. I don’t think he ever had the intention of signing a longer term contract, the current one suits him perfectly.

Completely agree with you Salvatore! He is the best we have had in years no question.
Times are difficult for us currently but we knew this would be the case. When SC is interviewed these days, he sounds tired and the bounce in his voice has gone.
What happened on the pitch in the Bournemouth game was shocking but what happened in the stands was unforgiveable - the anger, frustration, in fighting amongst Forest fans.
Some have already made their minds up and are forgetting what has been achieved. 23 years since we were last there! It is going to take a lot of learning in a very short time for us to stay up. I believe SC is the man to facilitate this but he does need to realise it is not working in a lot of areas.
Give the man time - surely he has earned it? Things are not great currently but get behind the team and remember we ALL want to succeed.
