RE: Brennan Johnson - DeesideRed - 16-10-2022 Horrible to single out any player but MOTD really wasn't good watch for BJ, Ait Nouri never being tracked, a missed penalty and then Jenas pointing out awful decision making. Not pretty. One of the things I was looking forward to at the start of the season was us being on MOTD. Now I cant bring myself to watch it, haven’t seen it since Everton game. I've felt the same thing, I've got them all recorded but have yet to watch any of them. RE: Brennan Johnson - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 17-10-2022 Perhaps we should give the lad a break from the action. Not nice to hear and see people turning on him. Probably be better if Steve leaves him out for a bit for BJ's own sake really. I think most would acknowledge that he's a young lad in his first season in the premier league and his game will be up and down. For me, the frustration is that he's been in the form he is now for the last 4 or 5 games, maybe more, and nothing's changed with regard to his game, his selection, the way he's being asked to play. The frustration is with Cooper's approach to Brennan, not Brennan himself. Playing him every game the pressure is building and the penalty miss is the result. He is a great talent, let's nurture it. Dropping him against Brighton could have a detrimental affect on his mind and confidence, as he will see it as being a punishment for the penalty miss. The best thing Steve can do is play BJ tomorrow night and hope he uses it to his full advantage by playing out of his skin. If he isn't pulling up trees, then hook him and sit him on the bench for a few games to get his head right. If he comes on for the last 30 minutes or so, he will have the pace and energy to get past tiring defences RE: Brennan Johnson - Paplane - 17-10-2022 (17-10-2022, 04:29 PM)Tricky Wrote:(17-10-2022, 09:35 AM)McDurban Wrote:(17-10-2022, 07:27 AM)Sniffer Dog (Admin) Wrote: Perhaps we should give the lad a break from the action. If he plays tomorrow night it'll be yet another game where we're effectively playing at a disadvantage. It needed to happen weeks ago. We need to be getting better now. We're 4 points adrift after saturday. It could be 7 or 8 after this week's games. And then 9 or 10 next weekend. If Brennan suddenly morphed into Pele we'd still struggle to claw back that kind of a deficit. I’d like to see him come on with 20 minutes to go. RE: Brennan Johnson - JWJW - 18-10-2022 If he cannot take being dropped he should not be a professional footballer. He has been needed to be dropped for weeks now..............he is the weakness of Cooper. Playing him effectively means we have 10 men for 85 minutes of the game. I would be playing a strong 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 and Johnson would not be starting. He would be an impact sub coming on at around the 70 minute mark to run at tired legs or defenders on yellow cards.........get the ball and take them on for speed. Johnson dosen't become a shite player over night and all the constant calling of managers to be sacked or players like Johnson to be dropped don't help. Perhaps just perhaps the manager knows what the best way is to get the boy firing again and by the look of it its to keep playing him. Plus the constant blaming of Johnson being the weak link is bang out of order as theres more players you could name in the team that also should be dropped but you're not saying them. You are blaming a 21 year old for all the shite thats happening with our beloved Forest and thats just not right. I know people love Yates but he is definetly a walking red card and then to our central defenders that do more ball handling than the keeper. So I guess what I'm saying is you just can't keep blaming a 21 year old lad who is still learning his trade. RE: Brennan Johnson - JWJW - 18-10-2022 Johnson is the weak link. Every time the balls goes near him, he either runs away from it....it bounces off him.....he gets tackled easily........or some other way of losing the ball. A lot of people can see it very clearly. A lot of people are also blinded like Cooper and think that keep playing him will suddenly make him better - whereas what he needs is to be benched and kicked up the ass..........like his stint in League 1. He is not cutting it.......he is poor defensively and others nothing in terms of holding the ball up..........and in the current time he needs to be dropped and we get a stronger ball holding/passing midfield in place. If we do not..........expect Brighton to run rings around us tonight and it will be another 90 minutes of chasing shadows......... At some point even an idiot realises doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result will not work. |
