It was no secret he was coming. Whatever issues he and Nuno had should've been addressed months before.
With regards to recruitment - many fans and indeed posters on this forum were delighted with the profile of player we signed in Kalimuendo, Bakwa, Luiz, McAtee and so on. Mostly young talent with great potential and experience in other top flights.
To me it seems too simplistic to just think giving Edu the boot will solve everything.
I never said it was that simple SR there are multiple collective failures. Edu is head of football so cops the blame but no it’s not just him and sacking him won’t change everything.

This is a very good point.
All he can be judged on are his acquisitions and it is far too early to pass judgement on those players.
There is an expectancy for new players to hit the ground running, and it very rarely happens.
The Athletic posted the details of all 155 players signed by PL Clubs in the Summer window; less than 10% of them made an instant impact.
Players like Wirtz and Sesko took the best part of half a season to settle in, and they are top class players.

Everyone gets side tracked around recruitment. That is only part of the problem. It’s the overall leadership and strategy around the club.

I never said I wanted him to leave. I just wish the club was run in a more coherent way.

Agreed it would be good if the club could pick an identity and stick with it. Then player and manager recruitment and the pathway from the academy to first team can all be built round it.
That takes a lot of patience and also a commitment to stick with it if things go badly short term. We've not seen either of that.
Is it Edu's remit to define and implement that strategy? That's a genuine question - I have no idea.

OK - strategy isn't implemented overnight and clearly we don't have one yet because you don't pivot from a manager like Nuno all the way to Ange then all the way back to Dyche.
Plus how much influence is EM having on these appointments? If they're *all* Edu's work then I can understand fans having the pitchforks out for him.
I don't know the answer to the question and that's part of the reasons why the 'eDu OuT' brigade annoy me because it's just far too simplistic a view.
Some people (not lumping you in here SM) have clearly decided that Edu = bad and won't believe anything else. You don't see the benefits of a strategy in one season. Look how long it took Arsenal to get to where they are now.

Wasnt just Taiwo tbf. He brought lads in who did a job and many sold at a profit.
I think people see Edu and his conflicts with Nuno as the catalyst for this truly abysmal season. Without that appointment, or without the conflict and perhaps giving the manager the Traore's and the Fernandes he wanted, we wouldnt be here.
