Poor performance tonight again and I thought looked disinterested at times.
However in his defence I think the service to him is almost non existent. Last year we had Spence overlapping and making chances on top of which our speed of bringing the ball out of defence up to him seemed so much quicker. Not sure if we are just more ponderous on the ball or if its just because the opposition close us down more effectively.
Regardless he has to show more and create more himself rather than waiting for it to happen for him.

Who would we replace Johnson with though in a 433 formation?
I have seen one or two drop Johnson for Mangala or O'Brien comments around in various places but that would make us far too narrow and offer us no width at all.
Personally I would like to see a midfield 3 of Mangala, Freuler and Yates.
Then 3 up top MGW, Dennis/Awoniyi and ? if no Johnson.
I think we dropped a bollock by letting Bowler go to Olympiakos, he's not even playing games so get him back here.

The lingard we have seen maybe sniffer but you cannot fault his pedigree
He was an England regular and deserves a chance to regain his confidence he also has a better work rate than Johnson

Maybe 1 or 2 games on the bench is what is required. I don’t think he’s been terrible btw.
I would like to see MGW on the right of a 3, where he was really effective for the blades last season (tbf he can play anywhere across the pitch).
Dennis on the left and Awoniyi/Surridge down the middle.
Bring Jonno off the bench.

Agree with the midfield, although O Brien could replace Yates as well.
I would use Awoniyi, Dennis and MGW as the front 3.
I think Johnson needs a game or two on the bench.

Kouate is offering some aerial ability and physicality to the side. Mangala looks like a good player but hes not the biggest. You only have to look at the size of the players we play against to relaise this is a big factor in prem football.
Freuler needs a run of games now and lets see how he beds in.
Same team, same approach again on Saturday. We played like an away team last night so we can do the same against Wolves.

From Cooper's comments post match he was disappointed with the way we wasted break away opportunities. If he can work on that this week then maybe Brennan can be more effective. He didn't do anything last night but in hindsight did he get any service? Probably not.

There were a couple of times last night v Villa where we tried to play Brennan in but the ball wasn't quite good enough.
