Is it too early to start discussing the prospect of signing Krov again next season either on loan or a permanent contract. He seems to suit CH's current set up really well. Excellent passer but still able to read the game and make tackles so not an out and out number 10.

That said I still think CH would prefer to play more of a 4411 rather than 4231 if he could so maybe that would suit Krov less long term.

Hope we we get Garner back again on season long loan if possible, on one showing he is exactly what we needed , its not the best football but it works

RE: Coventry City - Nottingham Forest - Widdow - 03-02-2021

Great result last night, and we need to follow that up with a win against Wycombe, and then we have a hard run of games, but if we can get it right, then we could move up the table as it is all very tight, but hey, game by game.

As for last night, thought Samba was awesome, like sticky glue on his hands. Worrall a gladiator, Garner promising debut. Krovinovic was a rash to them, but he was on the floor a lot, but then again conditions didnt help. Thought Christie did well, and the goal he didnt get him down. Knockeart runs a lot of miles in a game, just wish he could improve on his final delivery (needs a bit of luck). We are getting better at corners, but then again, should be scoring some.

The Chris Hughton subs, were not great, Colback didnt touch the ball when he came on last night, but he did give away a free kick (like normal) Would say none of our subs made an impact and just invited Coventry on. Freeman offered nothing, confused by the Blackett sub.

As for midfield going forward, i hope we dont start shoehorning in Colback, as no doubt our form actually picked up after Colback got injured and Yates came into his own. For me (if all fit) it would be Yates, Garner and Krovinovic, then Sow, Cafu can cover Krovinovic.

We could do with a midfielder to set the tempo, and put foot on ball and get us back in control, something i hope Garner can offer with more game time, last night will have done him the world of good.

Talking of Cafu, i am so surprised they gave him 2.5 year contract. He has been a stop gap, that was made permanent due to circumstances on the number of loans we have, something I said would happen if we continued to look at loans. He didn’t have the best of games yesterday (but battled hard) and has done ok so far, nothing more, nothing less and not sure warranted that length of contract, but guess at 27 he is a good age, but when every one is fit, not sure he gets in, and then in the Summer we need to be looking for far better..

To end, great 3 points last night, on a terrible pitch against a team that wouldn't stop coming forward, and somehow we won again with only one shot on target, which i think makes OWN Goals our 3rd top scorer doesn't it?

We needed better cover on the left side to stop Da Costa putting in crosses. Freeman just didn't do enough defensively.

We actually lost 4 out of the 5 games after Colback got injured. Our form picked up because we played a run of easier games after that mainly. I think based on what we saw last Krov, Garner and Yates should be the first choice 3, although Sow has got a pretty great record. Might just be a timing thing like the above where he played against easier teams perhaps. He does offer something none of the other players offer in terms of making interceptions. (no idea if Garner is any good at this!)

RE: Coventry City - Nottingham Forest - Jsmed - 03-02-2021

I thought the Blackett change was the right thing to do. Their wing back was having loads of the ball and Freeman was offering little protection to Bong. Blackett came on and helped a lot more in that area.

Good read from the manager imo.

Colback did his job. Harassed players. Thought he was unlucky to get booked as it was Figs who grabbed hold of the man and the ref booked Colback?

RE: Coventry City - Nottingham Forest - Shawoddyred - 03-02-2021

I still want to see Soh play more. Defensively he seems ok (I would say on a par with Figs) but more for the fact he seems to want to pass forward better and more importantly for me, he is a threat in the opposition box, he has proven that in the few minutes he's been given. We get plenty of corners and free kicks around the area etc but the quality of our movement, strength and heading ability is really quite poor. Would be a very good string to add to our bow in my opinion.

RE: Coventry City - Nottingham Forest - Widdow - 03-02-2021

Well ok, Blackett came on for that reason, but he didn’t do it well, only thing stopped them coming at us, was that bad injury. Stopped the game in its tracks.

RE: Coventry City - Nottingham Forest - PsychoStanleyStone - 03-02-2021

about 30 corners conceded down our left, i don't think Figs conceded 1 corner, might be wrong

Christie stood to far off his man, even though he should of known Figs was there to back him up

Figs is giving 1000%, i really think if you can't give a player any credit then why keep criticising?

Early in the game Wozza conceded a soft, dangerous free kick and if it had been Figgy would of been crucified, as also allowed Coventry in also early in the game, they went very close , maybe scored offside can't remember

All i know is Figgy, despite being sandwiched stopped there big fella's getting onto anything

He played a really good pass, might of been early in the move for the very early 'tap in' {needed a lung not forthcoming] from Christies cross for Grabbs

Figs loses about 3 pints of blood and a few limbs every game and still gets back up

considering personnell and injuries, Figgy and Wozza is as good as it will get, just pray they BOTH stay fit, lift the curses!

Sorry for mentioning him, again, but would you prefer he got injured? No, I didn't think so.

Grabbs is an exceptionally good fit, class above the other options there.

Brice Samba could be worth £20m the way he's going, that was the ultimate display of dominating an area and supersedes athleticism from previous best performances, distribution also very good and we can all breathe as he hugs the ball on the ground as if it were a little baby

Right to bring him on given the perpetual pressure down our left flank.

But Freeman should’ve been the one to make way - even if he was a sub himself.

I’m guessing that such a move would’ve been too demoralising - hence leaving him on  :(

Forest refused to keep hold of the ball after the goal and we drop way too deep. Very difficult to defend in that setting but Blackett offered better protection than Freeman at least.

RE: Coventry City - Nottingham Forest - Widdow - 03-02-2021

A better left back would help.
