Yes JCK I totally agree with that and I am grateful for it, I have never said otherwise. But our owner is a successful businessman and he didnt get where he is by wasting money. Hence he is making changes.

Kapino free sold for €300k . 4 games for Forest
Tachtsidis free sold for €450k. 0 games for Forest
Soudani fee €2.7M sold for €2.7M. 6 games for Forest
Ansarifard free sold for ? I will be generous lets say €1M. 12 games for Forest
Guediora free sold for ? He was 32 by then lets say €500K 27 games for Forest
Guerrero free sold for €1M approx. 9 games for Forest
Chema fee£450 sold for £1.35M. 8 games for Forest

So there you have it, our most successful transfers for players bought into the club.
7 players total profit is an estimate but Im guessing around €5M admittedly more than I first guessed but its not fantastic. Their wages will have to be deducted from that figure and wont be insignificant.
I am more interested in players who are value for money and contribute while they are here. Those 7 players gave us a total of 54 games and none exactly pulled up any trees.

Remember these are the best 7. For every one of them we have Hefele, DaCosta, Bong, Arter, Bachirou and others not to mention the £13M on the Portuguese prince. You can dress it up any way you want but we need to improve to be successful and that is why Murphy has been brought in.

:D

Where did you get those figures from SM? They are a complete joke. Kapino and Soudani are way out. Believe me I know 100% certain. Like I said before there is a good few million there that went into the coffers.

I doubt we'd have got a million for Guerrero. He only signed a short term deal with Rayo.

What does it matter how much we have sold players for. 70 plus signings in 4 seasons is bang out of order at any level.

Let the past be the past and let the, show us they have learnt from past mistakes. We are told we are ok financially so I don’t care where that money came from. Not my job to know or care... just want forest to be financially safe.

We should be more concerned with movement this summer. 3 weeks until the new season and we have a new goal keeper. We have a weakened squad in need of new blood but the right new blood and this takes time. It’s a bloody difficult job because we don’t want to be playing catch up early in the season but we also need to bring in the right type of players.

I know this is a symptom of the poor business but I always find it interesting that this argument of too many signings gets made but then you also want more signings this summer.

RE: New CEO Is Dane Murphy - Salvatore Matrecano - 21-07-2021

For goodness sake Wassy, I am going to bite, you have written this on 2 threads.

No we didnt need 14 players last summer. We needed 4 or 5 good ones. Instead we got mostly dross that weren't good enough (except McKenna and a few borderline, Cafu, Colback). Therefore we never filled the gaps last summer PLUS we have key players who have left this summer Ameobi etc therefore there is a bigger building job. Its not hard to grasp.

It is getting late in the day now but I would far prefer us to get it right than signing a load that will go in next years bomb squad which apparently now contains Arter, Jenkinson, Bong and Bachirou. £60k plus a week in that little lot.

RE: New CEO Is Dane Murphy - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 21-07-2021

Yep I am prepared to wait also.

I will remain patient and give the likes of Murphy, Brass, Brazil, Syrianos, Hughton etc all the time they need. I think it's fair to say that we finally have a long term vision but with that comes a need for patience I suppose.

RE: New CEO Is Dane Murphy - Salvatore Matrecano - 21-07-2021

Agreed Sniff, it sounds a far more sensible way of doing things but it might be a slow burn and I hope people realise that. I have said before that season before last Murphy’s strategy would have taken Barnsley down to L1 but for some pathetic injury time defending by Forest. The knives were out for him at one point but they now accept he got it right and its the route we are taking.

If it doesnt work I give up, maybe Vrentzos picking random names out of a hat is the way to go after all.

I feel like you're agreeing with me  :D

The point was simply that there seems to be a few people desperate for signings for signings sake again. I think it would be better to make a handful of signings and work with the dross we have  :P

RE: New CEO Is Dane Murphy - Fumanchew - 21-07-2021

Dane also said they’re planning for the next 3 windows already!

So is he looking at some players with one year left to try and nab in jan at a good price? Perhaps we will sell in jan instead? Let’s hope Liverpool are devoid of center backs again!
