Big job for Dyche but he’s the right man to sort it

I am not desperate for anything SM.

Am I not allowed to question ex managers and their methods?

Dyche said the squad is not fit.

So go and question him.

Precisely and one of the biggest issues was not getting the transfers done for Portugal, hence pre-season.

You have already said that a thousand times.

It was impossible and never going to happen and it never will.

The vast majority of tranfers happen towards the end of a window, always have and always will.

Only the clubs at the very top of the food chain get players their players in at the start of the window.

Brentford - Wissa replacement didn’t even come in until season started.
Fulham - did there business on last day of window
Everton - business done late in window
Villa - late in window
Newcastle - late in window.

Nuno used it as an excuse to create fireworks behind the scenes. This is firmly on Nuno

I may have said a thousand times but in this instance i was referring to the point being made by SM that Nuno is clearly not to blame for the poor conditioning of the new signings.

RE: Injuries And Suspensions - stirred - 07-11-2025

Nuno had mentally checked out and I don’t doubt was thinking of his future nor our season.

But does that explain it all? I mean 2 cramps relatively early in the match? McAtee was subbed 66th minute, and had obviously cramped prior to being subbed. The lad is 23 yrs old, that is terrible conditioning surely? And he played the Euros in the summer. What happened under Ange too?

Do we have permanent staff that cover conditioning who would have seen it all? A penny for their thoughts.

RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Salvatore Matrecano - 07-11-2025

I know this is a non productive debate so feel free to check out if you want.

Blame pre season and the split of unity within the squad on Nuno, fine.
The point is the players who are unfit are clearly those new to the club and who joined late in the window. We all get the circumstances but what have these players been doing for the last 2 months? Nuno left on 9th September. You can’t blame him for Kalimuendo looking like hes about to pass out after an hour of not doing much. As said above we employ an army of fitness coaches, again nothing to do with Nuno.

Every one of these players earns more in a week than I make in a year. Whether they are playing or not, whether we have a manager or not, I expect them at very least to be fit.

RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Paplane - 07-11-2025

I suspect Nuno's frustration was that he was being asked to deliver a more attacking approach and yet he didn't have the signings available to work on this new approach in pre-season.

RE: Injuries And Suspensions - JollyLollyAussie - 07-11-2025

Extremley valid point Sal, as you say who is responsible for fitness at the club? Maybe a review of our current staff?

RE: Injuries And Suspensions - The reds - 07-11-2025

The players returning this weekend are Igor Jesus, Elliot Anderson, Jair Cunha, Taiwo Awoniyi and Omari Hutchinson
Sels and Murillo expected to come back into the starting 11.
Dyche has said Wood and CHO both have a small chance but unlikely to return
Hopeful to recover more players over the international break - Zinchenko and Bakwa.

What is it about getting actual game time that the backup guys are not able to replicate in training? Always wondered this, makes sense why you're coming back from injury but for a squad player who is training every day, seems odd that they struggle when they are asked to play more minutes.

Perhaps you could say we've not got enough minutes into Kali and McAtee (although hard to justify giving Kali minutes so far). You'd think that will change going forward with some easier Europa games that they should probably be starting in and then the increase in games over xmas.

RE: Injuries And Suspensions - ozzyten10 - 07-11-2025

Also it’s too early to write them off! Do you think Liverpool are already regretting buying Isak - who is donethe best part of FA - or Newcastle thinking they’ve bought duds in wissa and elanga?
It’s disappointing so far but think Savona, Ndoye, Jesus have done decently- Luiz has been good when his glass hamstrings have been ok and Hutchinson has had one or two decent cameos. Early signs aren’t great with one or two but I have faith that we will see better over the course of their time with us.

Neco, Wood, Dominguez, big T, Sangare - all have struggled in their early games with us. All have since had decent spells of form and in Neco we are seeing him really shine.

I’m more convinced under SD many of these will be better in the medium and long term…

RE: Injuries And Suspensions - stirred - 08-11-2025

I see some players picking up their 5th yellow and a (1 match) suspension (Paqueta and Lukic). Neco is on 4. Can he get through PL match 19 without another? How long is Zinchenko out for?
