We know Sky viewing figures are down, so I wouldn't be shocked by any of the following "random" fixtures where they can play up the storylines for the 1st gameweek...
Liverpool vs one of the promoted teams - I'd say Sunderland
Everton at home
Brentford vs Spurs - moved to Monday night
Man U vs Wolves (or maybe Vs us to get Neville on comms to rip us apart for a few hours)
I'll be stunned if we get a winnable home match. I think they'll stitch us up at the start as much as possible.

Dont the champions always get a promoted side?
Going back to our last promotion (a few years back) 98/99 we got double winners Arsenal i think geoff thomas scored. Season i thought JC Darcheville was going to be massive

I don't care as long as it's not a complete fit up like the season before last which is enough to put any manager under sack pressure.

Hopefully we have a proper pre-season of preparing so we are strong from the first match (to the last…), while some of the others are pimping themselves around in unhelpful exhibition matches.

Im convinced that was what helped last season, a relatively stable summer in terms of the squad rather than a rebuild and Nuno had time to work with them.
Think by necessity there will be more ins and outs this year but hopefully business done early and some useful games that don’t involve flying around the world.

To be fair to Villa they qualified for the Champions League in the season that they also got to the Conference League semis, so it can be done.
