We are getting so little away from home 9 points from those three plus the odd few draws and we might be OK. We have had to set up fairly defensive to shore things up from the start of the season when we were getting battered. I trust Cooper, he normally judges things right tactically. He tends to open things up more in the second half of games. Neco needs to step up for me, Aurier is much more dominant and we're missing him Neco the biggest disappointment of the season for me. Neco needs to step up for me, Aurier is much more dominant and we're missing him Williams has some of the best stats of any player in our squad. He currently has made more tackles and more interceptions than any other player. He is 2nd to only Gibbs White in both through balls made and crosses. I agree Aurier looks more robust defensively but Neco is a very good player. He was bought as a wing back for when we favoured a 352 system not as a standard RB. He is doing OK at RB but it doesnt really suit him particularly when it is a backs to the wall battle and is why Cooper mainly using him in the midfield 3 when Aurier fit. Neco has a bright future in football, but he lacks real pace and that worries me as either a wing back or full back in the Prem. That said, he is much better than he showed in Saturdays debacle. Hopefully we will see it on Sunday. He had bags of potential, but just couldnt get into top gear. Then he was moved to Full Back and he just took off. Unknowingly, Full Back was the position that best suited Matty. Maybe Neco (and Coops) don't know yet what his best position is. he is still very young don't forget! A couple of things worth bearing in mind. 1) He hasnt had a decent run in the side yet and he has been played in a variety of positions. He will need some consistency in his starting position before he can get consistency in his game. 2) He is about the same age as Brennan, yet there are many on here that won't hear a bad word said about BJ when he has a bad game, or he has been ineffective. Defence comments will appear like 'he was played out of position, he doesnt like being central ' etc. Does the same not apply to Neco? RE: Nottingham Forest - Everton - DR Forest - 28-02-2023 too early to judge Williams but Matty cash has something Williams doesn’t have- pace. It’s my main concern with Williams and a large part of the difference between championship and premiership (as some of our squad are finding out- surridge worral and McKenna for example). Neco needs to step up for me, Aurier is much more dominant and we're missing him Neco was signed as the Spence replacement and started all the games at the start of the season, responsible for corners and free kicks also. I accept wholeheartedly that he is young but for what we paid and the calibre of player we wrre expecting he's been well off - being usurped by a 30yo free agent (who admittedly has been class). Of course there's room to improve given his age but as noted, will the lack of pace be his downfall. If Coops selects him yes RE: Nottingham Forest - Everton - Salvatore Matrecano - 28-02-2023 If he is fit reckon Yates will be on the bench, sub for Shelvey around 70 mins. Whichever I definitely do not want to see Freuler and Colback in the same midfield again. Neither of them can do much with the ball, remember when we had Colback paired with Ben Watson a few years back? It simply doesnt work. We have to be braver. RE: Nottingham Forest - Everton - ac_vodka - 01-03-2023 Agree with that unless parking the bus like at Man City RE: Nottingham Forest - Everton - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 01-03-2023 (01-03-2023, 07:19 AM)ac_vodka Wrote: Agree with that unless parking the bus like at Man City If we park the bus against Everton we might as well wrap up now. |
