Draws against WBA and QPR. And a win against Huddersfield (top 7) is about all we have? Lost twice to Boro' (main competition for the 6th place. Felt they got lucky both times.)
Got beaten by Fulham and Bournemouth.
Blackburn. Didn't seem that hot to me. Solid but dull.
We're a top 8 side so far. We've been 7th. But are we a top 5/6 side? So close...

We’ve largely had a ‘must win’ mentality so far, I wonder if that will start to become more of a ‘must not lose’ approach.
A bit of 'Hughton' pragmatism creeping in for those games?
According to Swansea fans. Cooper did have a plan 'b' of keeping things tight and more pragmatic.

Our results vs the current top 7:
Fulham Lost home. (Close than it appeared.)
Blackburn Lost home. (Solid but dull team.)
Bournemouth Lost home (They've done a bit of choking of late.)
QPR Drew away. (Nothing special. We neutralised them. But can we beat them?)
West Brom Drew away. (Dull. Dour. Chocking the choking at the minute.)
Middlesboro Lost home and away (they got lucky.)
Huddesfield won away lost home (Beatable. They got REAL lucky last time.)

Yep. Got to get over that form. We've got to pick up wins vs them to buck the trend and get into and win the play offs. 5 points from 9 games. Not good enough.
I didn't think there was alot in the performances, just the odd goal. Some of those we played with Hughton and without Wingbacks/fullbacks.
The game that gives me hope is the way the team did over Arsenal. The potential is there. Still go to turn up, though. Which we didn't at Cardiff, Worrall proving a massive miss for the Reds. A pity we go into a key period like Feb without Worrall, Cook and Grabban by the looks of things.
Think we can get past Huddersfield. Boro' and WBA will be tougher to overhaul. Think Boro' are our main competition for no.6 position. Ironically helmed by Wilder. But his team started from a much higher base than Forest did.
Give Forest back the 1st 7 games and I think we'd pick up 6-9 points which would put us top 6 and closing on 2nd.

Huddersfield I agree with you but if you think Boro were lucky you clearly didnt watch the game, we were well beaten by a far better team on the night.

Worth noting Blackburn, Bournemouth, Boro were under CH. In particular Blackburn & Bournemouth we had Back/Tutu & Gabriel as full backs as well as Figs playing. Take those out and it doesn't look as bad

Yes definitely, they battered us first half, we were lucky to only be one down. We shouldn't have lost to Hudds though

Just a note. They had a LB and their preferred midfield general is position and yes. He ran the show against two young CMs. (33? Howsen?)
We gave them a free goal (and they didn't look like scoring much before that to me. Sure, pressing a little.)
Another Sluggish Cardiff style away performance. Sure. Wilder on the 'overload.' Our preferred Lowe and Colback didn't save us v Cardiff, I guess. If I was being honest. I think Forest are a touch short for the play offs. Is it a time thing? Or the lack of winger? It's close. If Forest can get all their men on the pitch, fit and raring to go, playing to their best. I think we could give Boro' a better game. Boro' were lucky. Yates hit the ball into the back of the net to give them the impetus. That's pretty lucky in my book. So they were lucky to win it 2-0.
But with Lowe and Colback in their rightful positions, I think we'd have give them a better game.
Boro' have started form a higher base than us. By rights they should be top 6. They were loitering there with Warnock. They've been in the Premier more recently than Forest.
That all adds up.
Plus, Wilder landed on his feet a bit there. Boro' have actually been run somewhat consistently for a much longer period than Forest. Gibson has been a good steward for them. And his open letter to Derby et al shows he's not a man to be trifled with.
I think Forest have done well to close the gap this season. Only two places behind them and the play offs.
But even if we make top 6. There is little evidence Forest can beat teams in the top six. Currently, 7th is our watermark high. Can we beat Boro or any of the top 6 in the play off final?

Tough stretch coming up, I think 8 points would be a solid return but it is asking a lot. If we are within 6 points of the play-offs after these fixtures I would be very happy.
I can only hope the feeble performance at Cardiff is reflected on by the squad and puts a bit of fire back in their bellies! I’m still bemused at how apathetic we were on the day, King Cooper will square it away I don’t doubt!

Worst performance under Cooper and he has to hold his tactical hand up on this occasion. 1st time he got it wrong and didn't change it quick enough.
Forest have sluggish starts before and have had to come from behind under Cooper. The damage was done inside 5 mins. McKenna gave the ball away in a stupid position leaving Cook (who has moderate pace) to cover his and Mckenna's position (as he was out of position and got skinned by his man on the turnover.)
We've seen when you give teams like Boro' or Cardiff 'gift' goals or ANY Championship side, it's a long way back up that hill. To be fair, Cardiff isn't the only game where Forest have started sluggishly.
What the solution to that is may have to come in the Summer. In the meantime, being positive, doing better tactically and maximising the January signings is the way to go. There's always the chance that an Academy lad may make the break through under Cooper with the run in.

The next 6 weeks will tell us if the 'glass ceiling' of this squad (most of which is not his...) has been reached. We seem to have been misfiring here and there of late. I don't think the injuries to Mighten or Lolley have helped as they allowed us to 'shake the bag' late on in games with their pace and trickery.
It's hard to over turn a 7 game losing start to top 6. But Cooper has got Forest painfully close. He's over achieved, really.
He'll get the best out of Surridge. :)
