RE: Stevie Cooper - Widdow - 12-12-2023

I think it’s a good old fashioned Mexican standoff between cooper and owner

How do you think it will all end Widdow?

There is clearly a divide and growing imo. Go on social media and dare to have the view that perhaps it is time to replace Cooper and you are told you aren’t a true fan. Lots talking about how they’ll stop supporting Forest if Cooper is sacked, blame the owner etc etc. it really is becoming a them and us scenario in terms of the ‘Cooper in no matter what’ brigade and the ‘Time for a change’ brigade. Many of the former appearing to be completely unable to see the position in terms of results and overall poor play and also that it is possible to say thank you Steve for all you have achieved and done for this great club but sadly we need to change as results etc just aren’t happening.

What gets me is the ‘Cooper In’ brigade talking about making the atmosphere electric and showing their full support for Cooper v Spurs on Friday. What will happen though when we inevitably go behind or the performance is lacklustre? Will those same fans still be singing or will it become the usual library it does when things go wrong?

That is exactly what I have been getting at ^^

Plus it's okay for a new manager to have belief and back himself but it's not so easy when you have 20 thousand people screaming at you to f**k off etc. Put yourself in their place.

I don't think the crowd would be booing or anything similar towards a new manager. They probably wouldn't be given the same amount of leeway that Cooper has though.

RE: Stevie Cooper - Mist From The Trent - 12-12-2023

Blaming EM for buying players is absolutely ridiculous. He has backed his man to the hilt. Provided the players he wanted. We needed a new team after promotion, you can't spend 20-30m plus on each player.

RE: Stevie Cooper - Marco Polo - 12-12-2023

Correct. But it’s not the 1990s - there’s a recruitment team in place buying these players, not Cooper..

That team is EMs responsibility not Coopers

No one is blaming EM for the amount of money he has put in, all I think some of us are doing is questioning those he has put faith in, in assembling a squad fit ( in more ways than one) for the Prem.

And yes Steve may well be one of those.

In a couple of games we could find ourselves in the bottom 3, and for the money spent, whilst it’s no guarantee of success that would for me go down as a massive failure and heads would have to roll. But that would be heads plural not singular.

Hopefully that's a tongue in cheek comment. I cannot in all seriousness believe that Cooper didn't choose any of the players we have. If you accept that maybe some of them he didn't want its still his responsibility to coach them to be better players. ( which seems to be beyond him in some instances and he rather bins them off without a second thought..Bade and the young lad from Chelsea spring to mind although his name doesn't...)

RE: Stevie Cooper - Marco Polo - 12-12-2023

I didn’t say he didn’t choose any.

You and sniffer are saying cooper has to take some of the blame for the signings. So does EM.

The fact EM has done it before with previous managers - them often complaining of interference speaks volumes and highlights what a great job cooper has done.

Why does it have to be so one sided? Why can’t we question the owner on here?!

Em is not above criticism but you say that " the team is EMs  responsibility NOT Coopers" thereby placing the onus on EM. Im trying to point out that Cooper has to take a lot of responsibility himself, he is not blameless. He chooses the team to play also and he himself says that the buck stops with him. He's got to take the rough with the smooth and unfortunately for him it's "rough time."  I think his win percentage this season is 18.75%......Taxi please!

Think he will be gone over the weekend, thanks Steve for all you did for the club. A fresh start for all concerned is best I believe

Sniff has already said the EM and the recruitment should shoulder some of the blame, he's accepted that but he also said that Cooper has had players he wanted too. Which we can all agree that he has.

I thought he would be gone by now. If Oliver and Julien had been in talks for a while then you think something would be sorted.

Like sniff said maybe a manager doesn't want to come incase crowds just sing coops name.for 90 mins
