RE: Brice Samba - Salvatore Matrecano - 12-02-2022

Why does he need a fine?

It was a naive thing to do, but it was split second and hardly premeditated. He hardly touched Fletcher who collapsed like he had been shot.

Stupid yes. Inexcusable no.

Lets face it, hes been a walking red card for weeks now. What he did was inexcusable.  There was no need to do it at all. I dont believe he can handle the pressure thats been building over the last few weeks. He very nearly cost us last weekend and dearly today but was saved by his team mates and pure good furtune. But the true cost will be in us fielding a 2nd rate keeper for 3 of our most important games of the season. I hope he got a hammering in the dressing room.

You are overlooking how many points he has earned us though. Do you think we would be in play off contention if we had played 31 games with Horvarth in goal?
I dont, hope he proves me wrong, would be delighted if he puts in performances that make it difficult for Samba to take the shirt back but Im worried tbh.

Lets not lose sight of the fact that its the keeper's job to save sides, so yes hes done well in some games but so do many other keepers.  Listen, I like the guy and hope he can come back from this but he blew it today, he nearly blew it last week and could easily have been sent off v the sheep. He's lost it of late. That's three situations in a month in big games.  Maybe a spell sitting in the stand might be enough for him to get some space and get his head together. Meanwhile we'll play the 3 biggest games of our season with a 2nd rate keeper who cant kick.

It seems like he likes the attention. I hope he's going to apologise for what he did today. It was inexcusable.

Hope he gets a big fine by the club too.

I will leave it there.

Agree with you Sniffer shocked that some are making excuses for him.

That is a daft comparison.
You are comparing a goalkeeper with a combative ball winning midfielder?
Plus Samba couldn't be replaced because we had used our subs, he's the goalkeeper!
Outfield players can be covered.

RE: Brice Samba - Salvatore Matrecano - 12-02-2022

NFFC Goalkeepers since we have been in the Championship from 2007 on:
Paul Smith
Rune Pederson
Lee Camp
Karl Darlow
Dimitar Evtimov
Dorus De Vries
Stephen Henderson
Jordan Smith
Vladimir Stojkovic
Stephanos Kapino
Costel Pantillimon
Arijanet Muric
Evan Horvarth

Those of you that think he is a liability and we could do so much better please tell me how many out of the list above are better than Samba? Where are all these better keepers in the EFL? How many of the above were making these “standard saves that any decent keeper would make”.

Possibly De Vries was decent for 1 season. Darlow went on to be OK but he had some right shockers in his time here. Dont get me started on the rest, check out the Youtube vid of Villa v Forest in the 5-5 game, we had Pants in goal, he didnt so much as move for 3 of the goals, shocking keeper.

Yep Samba infuriates me at times too, actually his mistake vs Leicester annoyed me more than today because it was deliberately casual. Absolutely he needs a serious bollocking for today but he has saved us on many games this season and he is the best keeper on that long list above in my opinion and certainly one of the best in the Championship.

RE: Brice Samba - Mad Squad - 12-02-2022

Alot of back up goalkeepers mentioned above not sure why.
I would take De Vries, Camp and Darlow over Samba any day of the week.

RE: Brice Samba - Madforit - 12-02-2022

The manager needs to pull him to one side and bollock the clown, he needs to realize that he is part of a team that relies on him, he needs to be told to cut the shit out and act like a professional.

RE: Brice Samba - BadDog - 12-02-2022

He's been a bit of a liability for 2 games out of the last 3 now, maybe a rest on the sides will do him good, he has Ryan Yates to thank for the reaction not being much worse than it was today.

We wouldn’t have won at Blackburn had it not been for his excellent save from the short free kick.

He made two excellent saves against Lesta at 3-1 to stop them getting a head of steam.
