RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - TheGreenMan - 22-04-2019 An absolute travesty Carvalho hasn’t played more. I for one will never understand it. RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - Superreddamo - 22-04-2019 I can’t help feeling so angry after that today... we were so good it was untrue. The anger comes from my inability to understand how Ben Watson has been getting in the side in front of that magician... additional anger comes from watching us pass a football for the first time since Karanka left.... final anger comes from my inability to understand why we haven’t been doing this! I am sick of looking to next season... can’t believe I’m so angry after winning a game! RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - stirred - 22-04-2019 I wasn’t there but all reports sound very promising. I’ve always liked this guy, the key is to play football, get him in possession and give him options. (Same style that gets the best out of Osborn for one, passing and movement. I hear they in particular linked up well?) So did that match settle the question of the thread or does anyone still think it’s a no?! RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - Redgirl - 22-04-2019 I don’t want money back I just want to see the glorious football we saw today. I want every fan in the division to wish he played for their club not ours, I want the manager to build a team around the talented players we have. RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - Alf - 22-04-2019 Perfectly managed by MON. We were never going up this season. AK with a fully fit squad still couldn't cement us in the top 6. MON has given Carva the kick up the arse he needed & today he ran the show. Best performance of the season easily. Instead of looking like a 3-4m player with moments of brilliance, he totally ran the show and looked like a 13m player. MON is shaping us into a PROPER promotion side, not the phoney "top 6 but never actually in the top 6" pne which AK made us. MON's gonna ram it down all the doubters throat next season, and our time will be glorious again! RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - Redgirl - 22-04-2019 We will see when we play QPR Alf. I’m guessing a start for Watson, Osborn at LB, Murphy up front and Robinson being dropped for well who knows! Really hope I’m wrong I would love to be. I hope you will get off of Carv's back a little now...…….he is class and can be an outstanding player, when played correctly. If you played Messi at left back, he would be useless too. RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - Mcforest - 23-04-2019 Think the thread should be changed to is the Carv, Ozzy And Robinson our secret weapon. Those three complement each other so well. Carv has the skill, Ozzy has the energy and Robinson gives the cover correctly to allow this to all happen. In fairness I think it is widely accepted that much of his price was based on potential, which we had seen on occasion but not consistently either in a game or in a run of games. However, Saturday gave us a taste of what we hoped for in a game. If he had 15 or 16 games like that in a year with 15 or 16 OK (6 or 7 out of 10) games and the rest a bit ropey, then he will be worth every penny and more. I love Carvalho, but if he were playing like that most weeks we would have been top of the league all season. If he can add some consistency he will be worth more than we paid for him, no doubt. One day he will be the heart of a top team, I just hope it is us. JWJW .... one sparrow doesnt make a summer (or something like that) .... after Hull we thought that he was going to walk over the Villa defence and midfield, he went awol ... I am the first to admit it , his second half performance yesterday was of another level ... but it was complimented by the rest of the team playing out of their skin ... a class player comes out when the rest of the team is playing badly and under the cosh and he comes out and makes the difference, yesterday Boro didnt know what hit them, the Forest players where coming from everywhere and the speed and crisp passing was the best in years .... we have another two games against two inferior teams, so on paper Carvalho and the rest of the team should have it easier and reward us with at least another two wins .... I dont think that MoN will change much now, so it is up to the players to deliver... RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 12-03-2020 This thread was started more than one year ago and we are still waiting... I think we have waited long enough now. it's not going to happen is it? Time to move him on in the summer. RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - Strawberry Avenger - 12-03-2020 (12-03-2020, 03:32 PM)Sniffer Dog Wrote: This thread was started more than one year ago and we are still waiting... 'Still waiting...' The Coach is still (after reforging Ben Watson into the Battle General we (or I) always knew he could be) trying to harness Car's abilities. And he's got plenty of natural ability. Problem? You could go into a bar and take his drink off of him. Try doing that to Yates. Yeah. He can play a bit. But he's not robust enough mentally or physically for life in the Championship. And that's what the Championship is all about. Muck and nettles. Being able to play is great an' all...but you have to handle the right to play vs Millwall and Forest didn't. The two midfielders that came in, Semedo and Car' didn't handle it all. It led to two goals. People can say Yates isn't a great football (actually, he CAN play a bit...) but even as a developing player he's got in the 1st team a lot this season. His mentality and desire and will to win and character aren't in question. But for me, that question or those questions hover over Car'. Has he got the stomach for life in the Championship? Try taking Kenny's, Larry's, Archie's, Bomber's drinks off them. What do you think you were going to get? *(Use imagination for the above scene.) I know how Clough's golden miracles handled 'Keegan.' And you have to do that side of the game against the Millwall's and that's were Forest lost their auto spot. Car' is merely symptomatic of that reality. Forest may yet keep him for longer and live in hope. Forest started with Semedo and Car vs Millwall. And the team collapsed. (The back line wasn't blameless...and the keeper didn't pull over any world class saves either to stop all 3 goals.) Semedo and Car out. Silva and SOW in. Yates and Car' are both 'from the bench' players at this moment in time. SA. |
