RE: Vitor Pereira - Our Manager - Paplane - 24-03-2026

Question - If Pereira keeps us up, has he done enough to keep the job next Season? He's got to be in with a shot, surely?

Or if Silva gives EM some encouragement, will EM consider getting Silva in too good an opportunity to turn down?

It's a diffcult one for EM, now Pereira seems to have the fans on-side.

Not saying he didnt make a lot of mistakes and he has himself to blame but some of the criticism is well over the top, I suspect there is an element of deflection away from other issues that have led to where we currently are.

None of that means that Vitor isnt making an impressive job of things so far, early days and still only one league victory but the direction seems to be upwards which it definitely wasn't before and huge credit to him for that.

Yep, agree with all of that. Lets not let it be forgotten that Dyche came in and turned us around in no time at all. He had a pretty positive impact after the disastrous Ange appointment. But he had to go in the end when we all could see that his approach was just not going to work in the medium/long term for us (for whatever reason that was), and it was all going to fall part again.

Precisely. There is no fan club just you very much get what you pay for with Dyche.

If VP keeps us up and we do well Vs Porto then essentially it matters very little bar as you say Pap it should not be forgotten that it was the uptick we vitally needed at the time in Europe and the league.

I don't think we can answer that question until the season end. I'm not there yet, survival has to be the aim but if EM wants progress towards being mid table or in European mix we'll want to see a bit more on top

Depends what happens.
Should we survive I still think we need to consider his time at Wolves, did well then it all turned sour quickly. Vitor never seems to have stayed in one job for long, the quick turnaround seems to be his thing.
Would prefer us to go for one person who can give us stability.

Not defending Dyche but whatever you think of him he isnt stupid enough to treat everyone like an army sergeant major. Likewise as Pap says some definitely do need a kick up the backside every now and again, as we know our owner isnt shy of doing that himself if necessary.

Vitor's major plus point for me is his willingness to try different things and adapt to situations which Dyche was unwilling to do, that's what cost him his job.

Dyche treated some players very poorly.

I am stopping there because he still has his little fan club on here.

I don’t think anyone argued that Dyche should stay beyond the end of the season and accepted his limitations?

Is it more or less uneducated to walk on the pitch and confront the manager in the whole public eye or make a veiled comment post match not singling out any specific player?

Confused :/

I knew this would be brought up after winning his first league game.. haha

It's a no from me. We move onto a long term replacement. I am sure he is fully aware of his remit and will be thanked if he manages to keep us up.

I would say that Silva and Walid Regragui are ahead of Vitor if we stay up. Might depend on what happens in the EL though.

I would expect Vitor to be battling with Cooper if we were to go down but once again depending on what happens in the EL.

Seems ironic that Vitor has more chance of the job if we get relegated. Not sure that's the incentive structure we want to put in place!

Obviously, dependant on how the season finishes, but as it stands I'd prefer Vitor to someone random that hasn't managed in the PL. Been impressed by the quality of football he has managed to get us to produce, something that we really haven't managed apart from the odd game (Betis first half, Brentford week 1).

Silva, we have been chasing for a while and I like how much he is respected as a coach. Would herald a more long term appointment potentially too.

Yes it is a bit weird.

Would we replace a manager if he somehow won the EL even if we went down?

That would be a pretty bizarre scenario.

If we somehow won the EL he has to keep the job surely? Look at what happened to Spurs in the exact same scenario!

RE: Vitor Pereira - Our Manager - JohnG - 25-03-2026

I am on the fence regarding Vitor, but so far he seems to have the players bought into him. So maybe I don't think beyond that too much for now.

As you say this season at Wolves is a concern, is there some reason for that which is something he couldn't have helped with? I also came across a clip this week of a guy shouting 4-4-2 at him, when at Fenerbahce, someone who went out there for the game recons on the locals he talked to, they couldn't stand him.

But if he keeps us up, and we progress to at least the semis in the EL, would it be a bit too harsh to not give a pre-season and a chance?
