This is going to be a very interesting weekend where league positions around the play off’s could be changing at a rate of knots before the final whistle blows.
It is very possible for us to end the day in sixth spot above Bristol on goal difference (if they lose and we win) and only four points behind Middlesbrough. Sure they have a game in hand but that game in hand is against each other.
That of course is the best case and I would say unlikely as I expect Bristol to get a draw against Preston and I do fancy Brum to beat Hull. Plus there is the elephant in the room about our ability to put back to back wins together. We should have of course had that monkey off our back but for decisions made wrongly against us. However, our luck has to change at some time and maybe it is going to change just in time to make our season.

A significant factor for me is how long is the sheep's slump going to go on for. A win for them at villa could set them up to go on a run. And Bristol could easily win at Preston to get them going again. I doubt they're going to lose 3 on the bounce

Still fairly long odds I would suggest, based on Bristol City run in, Birmingham very likely points deduction and we have a very decent run in.
Bookies giving us a less than 20% chance. I think we have a better than 20% chance TBH

We are right in the thick of it now after the last 48 hours.
We are also building momentum and confidence is growing, two very important factors that shouldn't be overlooked.

I agree, momentum is massive at this stage and we seem to have developed it. We've come out of a slump and are looking forward again.
But, as poor as they were on Monday, my feeling is that Derby will soon find a bit of form. If they get a few players back and a bit of luck (such as a good result at Villa) they might be right back on it for the run in. And as for Bristol, I cant believe they'll suddenly capitulate and begin to have a lengthy losing streak. That's why I cant see them losing on Saturday as that would be 3 losses on the bounce after their impressive recent run.
I'd put us down as third favourites behind those two for 6th place. Then there's Brum - everyone seems to be discounting them but they continue to roll on picking up points. They'll be fancying their chances of getting 6th on the pitch at least, even if the EFL do then take points away. God, that'll be a big shout for the EFL if they do takes points away and would Brum be able to appeal if they miss out on 6th because of that? What a mess that would turn into. It could be a judge who decides who gets 6th!

They lost 7 in 11 between September & November, this season, including a run of 4 defeats in a row.
That included defeats against Preston & Leeds, their next 2 opponents.
& their recent 7 wins in a row included 6 games against bottom half teams.
I think their uneven fixture schedule has given them good & bad runs that have deceived casual observers. I've never seen them making top 6 this season & expect them to finish closer to 10th, but this is football so anything can happen.
Noted, but in this division no result is guaranteed. We're coming to the part of the season where pressure tells. The bottom 4 or 5 will begin to pick up results that on paper look beyond them and fancied teams drop point (Leeds last night for eg). And as has been said above, momentum is massive and a good run now can be decisive.
We've got every right now to consider ourselves as contenders again. I'd written our chances off a few weeks ago.
How enjoyable is it to still be in the mix in March?

The question for me is can we get to 72 points ?
Cannot see 6th getting more than that.
6 wins, 4 draws, 2 defeats.
Won’t be easy, but we could barely have a better set of 12 fixtures ahead of us.
3 out of next 5 at home. We need to cash in

Right now I think derby’s form is going to be most critical. Agree with above BC I’m less worried about. Derby have this run of 4 in a row at home, great chance to build some form/momentum. Another defeat sat could put pressure on that run

It´s worth mentioning that Stoke has only managed 3 points in the last 6 games which is the lowest for all teams in the Championship. Our next opponent Hull has managed 7 points and Aston Villa only 6 points. Our next opponent after that is Ipswich which has gathered a maasiv 3 points followed by Swansea with 7 points. So our 5 next games are against teams at the bottom of the form table and should be there for the beating. Forest btw has 11 points but we all know that it should have been 15 :)

Bristol City have a big hand in things play offs wise.
They play Birmingham, Preston, Leeds, Sheff Utd, Boro, WBA, Derby in their run in who are all top 10 at present.
Also play Hull, Sheff Wed and Villa who are 11th, 12th and 13th
That's 10 of their 14 remaining games - tough!
EDIT - they lost the Birmingham one last night!
