I know the supporters Trust issued a statement hinting they are disappointed that in their interview with Randall in May he explicitly said we were complying with PSR even though he will certainly have known at that time that was untrue. Agree. If we were under the impression that promotion costs and our covid losses could be excluded and only found out in June 23 they couldn’t then imo we weren’t misled by Randall or the club. RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - stirred - 20-03-2024 But on the other hand, the new rules will ensure clubs are profitable since it restricts spending (on players, staff wages...) to 70% of revenue. So instead of only a few clubs being profitable, they all should be. And then if the pie grows, the profit grows. So good for owners as an investment if you're not too ambitious. Fantastic if you are an owner of one of the already-rich clubs with European income and a global fan base buying your merchandise. But soul-destroying as fans of a competitive, national sport that we are all passionate about. Where you hope your club can better itself. The supporters in Asia will probably still lap it up, so we need protests domestically and get this independent regulator onside asap. RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 20-03-2024 Let's try to stay on track please Ladies and Gents and not turn every thread into a financial and points deduction debate. Back to EM. But these points are relevant as to whether EM will maintain a long term interest in our club. RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Salvatore Matrecano - 20-03-2024 Will try to make this EM related…. Let’s say EM knew we were going to breach PSR but sent the instructions back to our DOF that our top priority is to stay in the PL. We worry about any consequences later. Would he have been wrong to do that? A brave and risky decision but maybe the correct one? We know that financial projections were being made by employees within the club. What would be the point of doing them if the results weren't being reported upwards? I reckon EM made the call to worry later. RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Salvatore Matrecano - 20-03-2024 Exactly Pap. Naughty perhaps. But the end result is we remain a PL club. Just need to deliver on the pitch now. RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - wassy04 - 20-03-2024 (20-03-2024, 12:40 PM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote: Exactly Pap. Naughty perhaps. But the end result is we remain a PL club. Personally I have no problem with that and in fact I think it was the right decision. The signings made in January were critical to our survival. The mistakes were solely surrounding the sale of Brennan and the decisions made in that summer. On the points above, the covid losses part will have been a surprise and clearly should've been an accepted mitigation IMO. The bonuses part is unrelated though, unless I missed in it in the report, I couldn't work out why we thought we could claim them, do EFL rules exclude them? The June 23 timeline was specific to the covid loss part I believe. Feel free to point out where I'm wrong! He will don't worry. RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Fumanchew - 04-04-2024 Nice vid on Twitter of EM and Militidis (have I spelt that right?) greeting the players in the tunnel, not sure if he does that win lose or draw but some great embraces, not sure if any other owner does that in the league It’s a bit frosty between EM and Sangare though RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Salvatore Matrecano - 17-04-2024 The owners are taking a bit of a battering on social media which in my view is unfair because ticket pricing is an issue across the whole of football. Nobody can doubt the progress we have made and are continuing to make which gets forgotten when people have something to froth about. However I have a question for Sniffer. Despite his wealth EM is well known for being a man of the people and having left leaning views. He does a huge amount of charity work which probably doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Therefore how does pricing out the ordinary fan, the lifeblood of our support and excluding many of the next generation sit with him? It seems out of odds with his normal behaviour. Does Olympiacos have a pricing structure that lets traditional working classes afford to go to matches? Ultimately EM can afford to subsidise that cost to a point if he chooses to which enables younger fans to attend and in turn keeps the atmosphere at matches. It doesn’t seem to have affected Oly or has it? Could he do more or are we being unreasonable? RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Widdow - 17-04-2024 New campaign. We’re serious (now) about PSR are you? |
