RE: Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest - Plymouth red - 07-05-2026 To be honest I don't know what else Vitor could have done. Due to squad limits and injuries we just did not have enough to cope. I don't think it is fair to say our league form is papering over the cracks - we have been undone by a better team on the night. We've been undone by injuries to probably three of the four most influential players in the team in mgw, Sangare and Murillo. We've been undone by having lost aina and then losing abbot. I'm gutted and this is hurting. Who knows when we will get European nights again. The summer could see a huge rebuilding job - hopefully we can keep hold of mgw at least and rebuild the team around him. RE: Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest - DR Forest - 07-05-2026 I don’t know if it’s been said earlier but I suspect Sangare MGW and Ndoye weren’t fit and only on the bench for show. and even Murillo too not properly fit Bare bare bones Can’t blame Vitor Squad depth undoes us again in the end like last season RE: Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest - wassy04 - 07-05-2026 (07-05-2026, 09:51 PM)RyanR Wrote:(07-05-2026, 09:44 PM)wassy04 Wrote:(07-05-2026, 09:42 PM)Shawoddyred Wrote: Sad times. Genuinely think if MGW had been fit, it would have been a very different game. Feeling quite bitter to be honest but hey ho Not really fair though, Villa had their full team, we're missing 5 starters. No team is going to be good when you take out 5 of your best players. Not to mention we had no proper full back either, even poor Abbott was out. That is true and you’re making valid points. It is tough to take this performance tonight. All season I’ve found it frustrating that our new signings like Ndoye, Hutchinson, Bakwa, Lucca, McAtee have all struggled to contribute. I know they’ve had 4 managers and it does look like we’ll stay up, but it’s hard to view this season as anything but a catalogue of mistakes. Somehow we’ve stumbled on Vitor Pereira, who possibly deserves to be given time, but whatever happens in the summer, we need to get some clear direction back at the club RE: Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest - DeesideRed - 07-05-2026 (07-05-2026, 09:51 PM)Plymouth red Wrote: To be honest I don't know what else Vitor could have done. For me and many, possibly even VP in hindsight it was a game for a back 3 and dogs in midfield. Yates had to play really. Neco pushed on. RE: Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest - Marinakis Red - 07-05-2026 Proud of the run proud of the efforts proud of the club. Just didnt have the players with injuries to cope with villa tonight. Focus on the rest of the prem games now. RE: Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest - Stojanm - 07-05-2026 Gutted we’ve lost this game but deffo due to injuries to key players and Villa having more energy from an extra days rest and not playing most of their best players against Spurs Hope Arsenal beat West Gam on Saturday so we can relax for last few games as morale will be low after this Also think that Anderson, Murillo and unfortunately MGW will go at the end of the season, although I would love MGW to stay Also thank you Pereira and Forest for giving me some good memories in Europe this year. Let’s hope we can get there again in the near future RE: Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest - Plymouth red - 07-05-2026 Hope the lads still hold their heads up. The run has produced some great memories for a new generation of supporter who had been starved of these big matches. The dream has died tonight... Who knows when we have another chance RE: Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest - ac_vodka - 07-05-2026 Given the circumstances this season and the injurys tonight it's no suprise. Just need to secure 3 more points or hope West Ham loose. Maybe but I don't think it would have made much difference. We were outclassed and sometimes you've got to put your hands up and say 'we lost to the better team'. I wonder if that direction now means a new manager from Fulham RE: Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest - DeesideRed - 07-05-2026 (07-05-2026, 10:01 PM)Plymouth red Wrote:(07-05-2026, 09:56 PM)DeesideRed Wrote:(07-05-2026, 09:51 PM)Plymouth red Wrote: To be honest I don't know what else Vitor could have done. Aye, hopefully they go on and win it like Bayern did, that softens the blow imo |
