I was watching EMs body language from a distance, I admit he didn’t look pleased. I am worried which is why I am going for some people on here.
I maintain we have a free hit to improve this season. Just cannot understand why we wouldn’t give Cooper that free hit. If we do indeed finish 17th then so be it Cooper won’t have improved. But remove him now and we will never know.

Amd we'd be back on the manager churn again, which I've not missed one bit. Weve got to be above clubs like Fulham, Bournemouth and Brentford to demonstrate improvement this season imo as two of the promoted sides are so far off it (atm). And lets not forget we were crippled with injuries last season too so factor that in and id say progression means comfortable mid table.

The reality is as soon as we scrapped the Chelsea away lineup and progression we made in August and decided to do another massive rebuild from Burnley onwards Cooper's days were numbered. That transfer window and the change of style is what will cost him the job. People talk about progression but we would probably finish higher up the table sticking with our well established effective style of play. We nearly had half the possession today..............

That low block game (that infuriates me at times) is unsustainable though Tom over a long time. Its ok if you win games playing like that but if you go through a tough time and you're playing like that then fans amd owners get restless. We universally deride Chris Hughton as his footbaĺl was dull as dishwater.
Cooper was right last season post Leicester away to put the brakes on and go back to basics to stop the team conceding but you cant build a club playing like that. Its survival football.

We need significant improvement this season as its likey that Leicester, Leeds and maybe even Southampton might be returning to the prem next season. And there's no way Leicester are going to have a poor season like they did last.

We are on the same page I think Pap. That Cooper needs to find a way to knit it all together and show improvement by the end of the season, I 100% agree. Finish 17th or again play with 20% possession and he will have failed.
But we don’t know that yet, which is why in my opinion it would be madness to change now and as you say go on another managerial churn I would find it so disheartening.

I think you are spot on with EMs body language. He has stayed with Cooper until now and rightly so, however, you can see him thinking."200 million for this?" he looked uncomfortable sitting there and the cogs were turning...I reckon he's seen enough as sad and unfair that may seem to some.

That is your opinion and I respect that.
However it is based on nothing but speculation.
We will only find out in May.
I am of the opinion that we won't get relegated with Steve Cooper or with a new manager.
For me it's not about relegation, it's about going to the next level looking upwards.
Who is the right person we need in charge to achieve that?

I'm a broken record. If the owners and some fans want more expansive football over the actual results Steve Cooper will not be out manager. The excessive transfer window (signing 2/3 times more than we needed) made sure of that. Too much instability versus expectations. It's so bloody obvious.
It's our second season in 20 odd years and we changed style in September with no pre season. Cooper has had 3 squads in 3 seasons it's not sustainable.

Also you don't need me to tell you why we had to change the squad during every window. The squad we got promoted with would have been relegated by Christmas and even now it's still an ongoing thing. There is no magic wand to go from an average Championship squad to one that can compete mid table in the PL in the space of 3 transfer windows.
Another thing worth remembering is that Steve himself was and still is demanding more and more players all the time.

Agreed. The signings had to be made when we were promoted obviously some didn't work out but that was inevitable with the volume.
What I'm getting at is i don't think Cooper is responsible for a lot of these new incomings because like you pointed out the constant merry go round will eventually hinder our progression which will ultimately cost him the job when it isn't really his fault at all.
Yes the results are poor and equal about 1 in 4 which is the same as last season with our magnificent low block that we mastered by the back end of last season. We are closing the gap away from home but easier to play at home. It's no coincidence this is because we set up more defensive away.
He needs a win against Everton big time.
