As you know I do not want Cooper gone at all I was just pointing out the context behind your post so it was actually balanced when talking about lage and lopetegui.
My post had nothing to do with Cooper. You were just being sneaky trying to prove your point I just corrected it.

I'm in the same boat as you, I've stayed away the last week or so. I believe we and others have made strong arguments in defence of Cooper that largely get ignored. Honestly, no hyperbole, I will struggle to watch us this season if/when Cooper leaves (presuming it's not by choice). The highlight of last season for me, and by a distance, was the day Steve went from being sacked, to signing a new contract. I literally bought a ticket to Villa game just to say thanks that day and show my support. It honestly felt like a break up, the idea of Steve leaving.
Others may not have the same attachment (although really not sure why) but on a personal and also rational level I will never understand the desperation of some to try and throw shade on our best manager of my lifetime. For anyone that says people aren't doing this, please just read the match threads and this thread. There are plenty that seem to want him out and take pleasure any time it gets close, based I presume on some misguided hope that we suddenly perform a Villa like improvement (despite all evidence pointing to this being incredibly uinlikely) It's sad but it really drives me to not come on which is sad as I love the forum. I'm perfectly aware that people are entitled to their own opinion and happy to have a debate anytime but after a while having the same conversation just becomes not enjoyable and reading people constantly undermining Cooper (as SM puts above) just becomes not fun to read. Sorry for the rant, hopefully we win have a good run in the upcoming good fixtures and it can become enjoyable again.

I don't think any of them are saying they want Steve sacked..... just if it did happen, it might not actually be the end of the world and that there is a possibility that things could even be better?! Of course..... things could also go the other way. Don't act like other folk on here are completely belligerent, they just have their thoughts and opinions, just like you have consistently taken your position of being extremely pro Steve.

People who don't like it why don't you start a thread and give the forum something else to talk about?
Is this about Steve Cooper, most of this conversation is about the former Wolves manager who has been outperformed by a supposed lesser in O'Neil?

Did O'Neil take over Wolves when they were bottom of the league? No, Lopetegui did that. What O'Neil has done is take over Lopetegui's team, the same team that Lopetegui took from the bottom to mid table safety with games to spare.
Anyway glad we stuck with Steve last season as we stayed up too.

The same team minus Never, Nunes, Collins, Jimenez, Moutinho, Traore, Costa, Podence. So just their best 4-5 players or so.

Lopetegui had just one window Wassy in January. He left in the summer because they don't have money to invest and he wanted to take them up the league and challenge for a European place. Fair play to him for that. He would love to have the backing that our owner provides I am sure of that.
Just for the record I have never ever said that I want SC to be sacked and nor am I asking for him to be sacked so we can put that bullshit to bed.
Like I said why don't someone give us something else to talk about on another thread? If I weren't commenting on this thread the forum would die because nobody is commenting on anything else.

Steve Cooper has given us the best two seasons in over 20 years. Should that buy him patience and time ? yes absolutely.
Does it make him immune from criticism ? no absolutely not.
I sincerely hope Steve is given the time to grow and develop as a manager whilst developing the team and our style of play and taking us up the table.
If however Steve reaches a personal ceiling and we stop developing / moving forward under him I think that will be the time questions should be asked.
I personally think he has earned the right to see this season out (as long as we continue to progress and develop the style of play) but expectations will be higher next season and he will need to able to deliver then following another January and Summer transfer window.
I think we all hope Steve is successful because if he is Forest are.

I will make my stance perfectly clear on this matter.
1. Do I think Steve Cooper has done a very good job at Nottingham Forest? Yes I do.
2. Do I want Steve Cooper to be sacked and replaced? No I don't.
3. Do I think that there are other managers out there who would have us higher up the league? Yes I do.
So there you have it nice and clear.

I apologise for my earlier outburst to those like MR who consistently make balanced observations and arguments, and I agree my own comment was not itself balanced.
However some of my frustration remains, It was noticeable there were fewer comments on here after the win vs Villa. Comments such as there are other managers who would have us higher up the league are fair enough but to me that sounds like you would prefer one of those managers in charge.
I try to make the majority of my posts based on facts and evidence. I find some of the anti Cooper arguments to be along the lines of “another manger would get us attacking more” which is based on zero evidence, more conjecture looking at the performance of other teams with different and largely more settled squads. That a new manager could come in and do better is the argument above. Its a fair topic but the evidence some of you are using to support your arguments is in my opinion stretching some facts and ignoring others.
Anyway 29k home fans and 3k away fans back our current manager unequivocally every single week and I think that’s what’s more important.

I love Steve Cooper. I just hate the way he sets his teams up somethimes though. When he does that I call it out. Doesnt mean i want him sacked.
And another point. Hes now coming to the point where the law of football averages says he will be sacked soon. Add that to the fact that the big man doesn't hesitate pulling the trigger on his managers, and he seems to have more ambition than most of us fans, and you cant help think Cooper's tenure is time limited now.
Leicester sacked Ranieri after he won them the premier league. That says everything about thr modern game.

Happen to agree with Pap and to be honest I am ultra defensive about Cooper because sadly I genuinely think he won’t be here much longer.
But I also want to clarify about being extremely pro Cooper, I most definitely do not think he is beyond criticism. To prove it here are 3 things about Cooper I find frustrating:
1. Think he does set up to get a result which is understandable but the way we almost immediately sit back on taking the lead in any game is too cautious and to be honest utterly nerve wracking to watch!
2. I don’t think he has made full use of his squad, particularly last season. I don’t think Scarpa was great by any means but he wasn’t given any sort of chance and when he did play MGW still got to take all the set pieces. Dennis was another one who clearly had talent but despite being short of options he was bomb squaded. There may be good reasons for both but they weren’t apparent. Set pieces remain a frustration.
3. In my opinion he puts too much faith in his back room team which is significantly lacking in experience at this level. Would like to see him say we need a bit of help and nous here because other teams are sometimes a bit cuter with their tactics than we are.
Ok there you go. So my challenge to those of you who think we can do better is….Some are noticeably quiet on here when we do well. So say 3 nice things about Cooper and what he does well. Go.

Listened to the latest Shut Up and Show More Football podcast over the weekend.
For me it emphasises the massive steps we have taken as a club off the pitch going into the details of the treatment of the two Forest fans that have been at the club this week.
Its well worth a listen and how long is it since we have had a club that we could truly be proud of ?
Whilst this may be considered secondary to results on the pitch I really don't think you can underestimate the impact Steve Cooper (and the owners) are having off the pitch.
