We are also naturally blinkered, in all of these games we have had decisions go in our favour too, we just seem to be getting the really bad ones. As said above Omo probably should have had 2 yellows today. Then we would have had the whole 2nd half with 10 men a probably got a good hammering.

What worries me is the team and manager seem to be adopting the victim viewpoint which I think is dangerous.

I agree a red probably wouldn't have made a difference today but we should have been given a chance against the 10 men. Amd I disagree about 2 yellows for Omo. Not every foul is a yellow.

Boly was on the bench today. Does he play next week to counter their aerial ability?

Yes for me. Boly, Sangare, Aina (if fit), CHO, Elanga all in for me. I think we need to go something like;

            Sels
Williams Boly Murillo Aina
    Sangare  Dominguez
Elanga  MGW  CHO
     Wood or Awoniyi

The point is we are not dealing in absolutes.
There is no conspiracy or referees illuminati group plotting against us.

But there is something called unconscious bias and these decisions are loading the dice in the favour of certain teams- usually the ‘big’ teams.
Over a period of time, those decisions will accumulate and in some cases change the game and result, and this does affect us.
A penalty against Newcastle, a correct drop ball against Liverpool and boly not being sent off probably but not certainly would have meant 3-7 more points.

The reason we are focussing more on them is because we have ALSO thrown away at least the same number of points through niaivity and having shit keepers.
Sometimes there is an overlap, sometimes not; but the fact we have had many self-inflicted moments does NOT make the refereeing errors less important or the point Nuno and the club are making less valid.

Exactly, plus we have no one capable of scoring; yes,  we break quickly only to shoot straight at the keeper or miss or fail to look up and see someone in a great position but still try and score a wonder goal.

I know one thing for sure. Despite our form failing us, if we'd had gotten half of the dodgy decisons go our way, there's no way we'd now be shitting ourselves over a trip to Luton. The effect of these decisons is having an undoubtedly negative effect upon our season. There are others factors too, but its very significant indeed.

RE: Brighton - Nottingham Forest - Salvatore Matrecano - 11-03-2024

Last week I slept on it and woke up still angry.

This week I am only angry at our own performance. We were facing a team who had a long trip away and received a 0-4 thrashing for their trouble. Yet we barely kicked the ball 1st half and didn’t trouble them much 2nd. We got exactly what we deserved. Not happy with Nuno trying to pass some blame on to the ref and that seems to be passed down the line to the team too.

The whole squad needs to wake up and take responsibility.

I agree with that. I was incandescent last week. We have been at the wrong end of refereeing decisions but away from the adrenaline of match day , our league position is more to do with self inflicted wounds. Feeling sorry for ourselves will definitely see us relegated. Nuno and the team need to start cutting out those mistakes and start taking chances. We were rubbish yesterday.

RE: Brighton - Nottingham Forest - Shawoddyred - 11-03-2024

Just watched the highlights and Nuno's interview from after the game.

We were very unlucky to get nothing and to concede. Even the free kick they scored from wasn't a free kick, though the mistake is not VAR-able in this case and it wouldn't have been easy to spot for the referee. Also don't even think the early Dominguez yellow was a yellow. We're just getting very little 'rub'.

Finishing was poor from Origi - or he had the opportunity to get his head up and square it for his chance just after we conceded. Also though, why didn't Elanga bolt to the back post when Chris Wood has an opportunity to shoot cross goal later on in the second half? Keeper saved it in the only way he possibly could and it would have been a tap in. He's certainly fast enough to have got there. Basics....

The red. Just a joke really. I think Nuno actually kept it relatively constructive in the interview afterwards. We need to make it clear we're not happy, I don't agree with saying nothing. When the BBC pundits are sympathising with the last few big decisions over a number of games then you know!

Anyway, we could and should have scored at least 1. Another opportunity down the pan.....onto our cup final (sad to say that really).

Nuno's post match comments confirmed we set up defensnively to counter their midfield. We didnt attack the game, we didnt do what we'd done vs United and Liverpool. Baffling tactics from the manager, again!

(still not quite over Niakhate at LB vs Villa)

Nuno is struggling. We are certain to get relegated if he remains as manager

He is having a difficult time.

But where a points deduction and poor refereeing is concerned he is completely innocent.

Let's not pretend that those two things won't be contributing factors if we were to be relegated.
