RE: Stevie Cooper - ozzyten10 - 06-11-2023 Maybe this comes from his academy and England experience where player turnover is quite often yearly or at the most over 2 years. He has been used to moulding teams quickly… RE: Stevie Cooper - Simon - 06-11-2023 good point that Ozzy. You do realise it's not my gun right? And that I was only saying what will be going on in EM's mind. In other words they were not my own personal thoughts. RE: Stevie Cooper - Salvatore Matrecano - 06-11-2023 So then rather than being worried about him getting sacked are we back to being worried about him getting the England job RE: Stevie Cooper - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 06-11-2023 (06-11-2023, 02:20 PM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote: So then rather than being worried about him getting sacked are we back to being worried about him getting the England job Personally I am not but I can't speak for anyone else. I've got visions of Sniff walking out in a string vest with a knotted hanky on his head armed with bandolas of bullets draped across his chest, an AK47 in one hand a M16 in the other and hand grenades dangling from his trouser pockets. Instead of Rambo, they call him Bimbo. RE: Stevie Cooper - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 07-11-2023 Yes thanks for that Tricky pal. This is an under-rated post R73. It does indeed take time to gel a team. I think some forget that 8 of our squad only joined on deadline day. That means a third of the squad have only played together for 7 games. Then he has to deal with language and cultural differences, players who have never been in the league before, others in the squad whose nose has been put out of joint and because someone has been signed in their position threatening their place. Then he has to get all this in place and implement a plan to get results in the toughest league in the world. Marinakis is demanding and backs his team financially, that means a high turnover of playing staff each transfer window. Its just his way and he isnt going to change so we need a manager who can deal with that. Its a very different skill to the “new manager bounce” saying, where in most cases someone is brought in to gel a settled but underachieving side. We have something rare in Cooper and that’s before you get to the connection he seems to have. He isn’t perfect and is still learning, for what its worth I believe there are managers out there who are more astute and possibly set up to play more attractive football. Whether they could do that here and in such a short time Im less convinced. Stick with Cooper and he will deliver like he has every year so far. You had players who weren’t playing regularly saying that it was the best dressing room they had been involved in. To get that after bringing in 29 players, losing most weeks, and still have that sprit is very hard (almost impossible) to harness. Coops is in his 5th season as a senior coach - Year 1 - play off semi final Year 2 - play of final Year 3 - play off winners ( after being bottom after 7 games) Year 4 - incredibly kept Forest up after 29 new players Year 5 - now onto version 3.0 and clear progress being made. Effectively Coops has been able to over perform each season for the 4 full seasons he has had. We need to cherish Coops as I doubt we will ever drop on somebody as special. RE: Stevie Cooper - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 14-11-2023 Salvatore I have some good news for you pal... Heard a whisper that Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui is expected to reach an agreement with the management of Al Ittihad very soon.
