Really starting to think so.

If we don’t find a goal scorer I totally agree

Yes - we are in as big a battle as we were under cooper and Nunos first year.

We risk performances like today against ‘better’ sides but not getting the points, then coming short when we need creativity and a bit of spark / energy against sides like the Wolves, Fulham and Everton matches, while our best players rack up a lot of minutes. Need more flexibility from Sean IMO.

Same again.

I’m most worried about how we have completely changed our counter attacking set up which (mostly) served us well last season to a possession based approach we don’t have the players for and we don’t seem to know how to play it. The lack of a goal scorer is a massive problem and despite the investment we aren’t even creating many decent chances.

I agree.

However this is a massive problem to solve.

Harry Kane could have played up top yesterday and it wouldn't have made any difference.

50 crosses into the box and 95% of them went straight to a blue shirt.

When you concede first to a team like Everton, who have lost all their front line to injury, then they defend the edge of their box, of course you are going to have all of the ball.

Last year we scored first so many times, that teams had to cone onto us and then we could hit them.

If we had scored first, we wouldn’t have had 70% possession

The point is last season how we set up allowed us to score first. We were a one trick pony but at least we had a trick.

Last night was a carbon copy of last seasons game when we didn’t have a clue how to break them down chasing the game.

My worry is we have thrown away a system that worked well at least on occasion to go to a system that doesnt work.

We are bang in trouble that is for sure, its the first I have thought that we could go down, last night was the changing point. We need points and quickly.

We need drastic change of tactics. We are not scoring enough all season. My remedy is go 4 4 2. Drop Morgan and start Kali next to Jesus

RE: Are We Going Down? - Jimmygordon - 31-12-2025

Drop MGW?

We have to beat West Ham.

Jesus and MGW can’t play together. They play as the 9 and 10. Both are very good footballers but not prolific goal scorers. We need more goals from those two positions. Apart from Jesus We don’t currently have a striker who can hold the ball up either. We need that and so i don’t think we can drop jesus. Kali looks like he would play best off another striker and he did score plenty last season in France. As i said we need to do something drastic to change our fortunes.
