Carvalho - 2272 mins 4 goals 6 assists
Grealish - 2247 mins 4 goals 5 assists
Norwood - 3222 mins 3 goals 8 assists
Mount - 2347 mins 5 goals 3 assists
Brownhill - 3168 mins 3 goals 2 assist
Howson - 3223 mins 1 goal 5 assists
Gallagher - 2058 mins 6 goals 7 assists

Tried to pick what looked like the most comparable player in each team, can’t say I follow these teams enough to be certain I picked the right player but I feel it proves the point.

How much do people think grealish and mount are worth for example?

Interestingly, Tyler Walker scored 4 goals in half a season under Warbs, playing a lot of games in wider positions.

Now dare i suggest we recoup what we paid for Carva and give our own players who cost £0, and have scored 20+ goals this year in a lower league,  a chance?

Tyler has to be given a chance.  Given we've had a injured 'star' striker, an aged super sub...then Tyler would have been the legs in-between this season.  20+ goals.  If it was anyone else we'd be saying take a punt on him before someone else snaps him up.

Pre-season with the young guns along with Yates, Appiah, Worrall.

SA.

Ha so the resolution of this is Tyler should be given a chance?! You know carvalho is pretty young right? Maybe give him the same respect as the others. At this point it’s all about his value, not convinced he’s worth any more or less than ourother academy prospects at thus point.

I do agree in MON’s tactics it’s hard to see him building the team round carvalho but at the same time we’re not going to get 13mil back. Can’t see us  getting a big fee so might have to find a role for him.

If Carvalho cannot get into the team now then I cannot see him getting in the team next season when Mon and Roy have got their own players in over the summer.

Good point Sniffer. If Carvalho stays next season he is not going to play many games is he? Just being honest here.

Is pulling out of 50/50 tackles something that can be coached and worked on? Not really in my opinion.

It pains me to say it but we should sell him in the summer. Of course we won't get 13M for him but perhaps we can get half of that plus a player in exchange and a good sell on clause?

RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - wassy04 - 02-04-2019

Personally I think this would be a big mistake but it’s not a case of MON or carv. If he has no intention of playing him regularly we should be trying to sell and recoup what we can as his value will only drop.

Hopefully MON decides to build the team around carvalho and grabban and another striker as I don’t think we get value for carvalho right now and he’s likely to make a big jump in his second season in the country as he’s had time to adapt.

I would really like to believe that was true Wassy, I really would.

Sadly though I cannot see it happening. I would love to be proved wrong.

Agreed, I think we will see another 20% from him next year in performance levels, he will adapt to the physicality but also more importantly his fitness levels will be better.

RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - wassy04 - 02-04-2019

Yeah sadly I think he’s going to need to show it this year to convince Martin. Also for reference I won’t turn on Martin if he chooses to get rid of Carv I will just be disappointed

It will depend on who Martin decides to spend the money on for me.

If MON has made up his mind and Carvalho is going to struggle for game time then there is no point in him staying surely?
At the minute, everything points to this being the case.

Car' may well do ok in the Premier...(and why didn't somebody else pay £13.5 million for him, then?) but Forest's leadership want promotion now.

Which makes me wonder why they signed 'one for the future...' in the Summer doubling our transfer record.

The leadership made a mistake in putting £16.5 million (and the rest) into Soudani, Car', and the other two Portuguese.  That's a lot of 'non-proven' in the Championship.

And so it's come to pass.  Dias.  Gone.  Gonzo.  Out.  (Whether he's here or not.)  Car'?  'Caved' as soon as Winter came as many had predicted.  And hasn't demonstrated the strength in stature or character to start under Martin.

Forest might not be sexy in CM.  But Forest are tougher.

And that's what you have to be in the Championship.  Robust.  And under Warburton and Aitor?  Forest were brittle and easily bullied by the usual contenders.

It may be painful to watch (and well done to you who pay 'good' money to watch it...) but the stat, the one that counts, is that Forest beat Swansea (and it's been a long time coming.)

We Cardiffed their pure game.

Martin has made the admission as such.  That we're at the beginning.  His interview is worth listening to closely.  He's not saying we're the finished article.  First we need to be tough to beat.  Then we'll play.  But that takes time.

Why will it take time?  Because £16 million+ worth of transfers evaporated.  No Dias.  No Gonzo.  Car' is a different player to the one that started the season (Nov', Dec', Jan', Feb', March, nearly April...that's a long time for £13.5 million not to be holding up play, assisting or scoring goals and that, folks, is his job.  And he aint doing it.  And yes, he's been given chances and he is lightweight.)  Soudani is injured.

Four players Forest signed in the Summer.  Our attacking midfield line up?  Where is it?  Where are the goals?  The assists?  The holding up play.  Four 'premium' transfers haven't done it.

Yet Martin gets booed for bringing on the 'non-sexy' Murphy who gets the win for us?  Cash and Grabban are injured.  Tendon injuries.  (And good luck with those, folks, because they stay forever...as my left adductor reminds me every day and twice when it's cold...)  Boo all you like.  But booing won't make Martin responsible for the Summer transfer business.  He's given the portuguese players chances in training and on the pitch.

The result was?

SA.

RE: Is Carvalho Our Secret Weapon? - Strawberry Avenger - 02-04-2019

As Martin also noted. Just because a player isn't as tall as Murphy doesn't mean he can't be tough.

But 'tough' isn't something I get from Car'.

I wanted him to do well. He started well enough. But when he's 'up there' and loses the ball (often) or can't reach the ball...can't pass it, can't assist it...or score it for £13.5 million (then I don't think he was effectively scouted in line with the expectations of the club.)

That's not Martin's fault. The club and Aitor have to own it.

SA.

It's MON or Carvalho, I can't see it being both. MON will have his own players coming in the summer.
