RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Sausage Roll - 24-04-2023

Unsurprisingly McKenna out for the season due to the broken collarbone.

Anybody picking up an injury now is basically out for the season, given there is only a month left

Since when was Shelvey injured? (Just read that on Nottm post, could be not true)

He's not. Hs been banished from the squad for his attitude apparently

Wow- just seen that Percy has written a story on that. At least it shows he cares I suppose- but on his showing in games how can he be surprised?

Can't read it as it's behind a pay wall but Percy seems to suggest that Shelvey was far from happy about being benched on Saturday and Steve has told him to stay at home.

RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Salvatore Matrecano - 24-04-2023

Confrontation after team meeting when Shelvey told he would be starting on bench.
Carrying a slight calf injury anyway
Cooper disappointed with Shelvey performances in training last week
Dressing room culture pf togetherness, Cooper felt his response unacceptable.

Also
Willy Boly is also expected to miss the remainder of the campaign with a serious hamstring injury, but Serge Aurier and Cheikhou Kouyaté could return to training later this week.

The article suggests the opposite if anything.

Shame this didn't happen before Everton.

RE: Injuries And Suspensions - Salvatore Matrecano - 27-04-2023

The only negative about last night, yet another 2 injuries.

Hope Neco is OK but rumours are broken jaw, hugely disappointing given he was just starting to look a player again and reverting to a back 3 really suiting him.

Then Niakhate, yet another hamstring apparently. So we are down to our last 2 fit centre backs for the remaining games. Any more injuries or a red card we will be in big trouble. Now of course we don’t even have the option of a back 3 if we want to.

Broken bones we can do little about. But some people on here constantly looking for a scapegoat and want it to be the manager. How about you pick on this years biggest failing, the medical and physio teams for our ridiculous amount of soft tissue injuries.

I wouldn't write Niakhate off yet. He went off early in another game recently but he came back in again for the following match.

Unless I’m mistaken Cooper said hamstring last night in his interview.

Hope that’s wrong but I say again how is it possible a professional can do that 6 minutes into a match? Our physios have some explaining to do, hopefully in a 1:1 meeting with Mr Marinakis.

Yes i know but I wouldn't write him off just yet.
