RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Mad Squad - 04-07-2022

Sniffer is never wrong when it comes to Greek matters so something must have kicked off but it's good that he hasn't gone into detail.

I thought one of the reasons he was brought in was to ensure resources were used more intelligently and not repeat the scatter gun transfer policy which was lumbering us with a very expensive bond squad. His quality in the role is there for us all to see. In no time he turned Barnsley around from relegation fodder into a play off team. As soon as he goes they finish below Derby and get relegated. He joins us and in his first season we are promoted after 23 years of different levels of failure , including a number under the current ownership. For his efforts he wins EFL Chief Executive of the year.

Ismael and Steve Cooper might have something to say about that.

What does that mean?

I would prefer to believe this opinion ^ for now. Not saying everything is perfect but for goodness sake we are in the Premier league after 23 years, we must be doing something right behind the scenes.
And yes there is far more to a CEOs job that ringing up other clubs and offering a few £million for their players.

Well lets hope Dane get the sack for being piss poor at his job and Derby take him and they get two promotions on the bounce.

RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Alf Garnett - 04-07-2022

Can't see why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist.
Sniff dropped something out which he is entitled to do.
For what it's worth I have also seen it hinted elsewhere that all is not rosy.
What's the big deal?

I think this might be a little bit my fault too not just Sniffs.

To be clear, Dane is seriously under the pump and working his proverbials off getting us Premiership ready off the pitch and doing it fantastically well by all accounts. The staff at the club all love him and speak very highly of him and the job he does there.

This has in part caused him to be much less involved in the recruitment processes than in August or January.

The positive collective at the club is the best I have ever known it. We are a big organisation and not every single decision or aspect will be 100% correct. People will make the odd error here and there-some more expensive than others.Take the Wembley tickets debacle or the transport debacle. Or the fact that loyal away members have still not been able to renew for next season. These things happen and lessons can be learned and we move forward.

We as a club are having to change rapidly -as can be seen by the various vacancies being advertised to beef up our staffing behind the scenes -and if any persons role develops and changes due to this and ultimately makes us stronger, then this is a positive in my book. The CEO job was massive in Championship and Dane came through it well, the CEO job in Prem requires a division of labour and playing to peoples strengths.

Ultimately, Dane could decide his work here is done-he is a very young man in his position- and take opportunities and fresh challenges elsewhere or be poached. I doubt very much this will happen this summer but if and when it does, good luck to him and thanks for his service. He will be a loss but not necessarily in the way people seem to think.

Hope this puts to bed the concerns people may have. Whatever the bumps in the road we have and are navigating them superbly. For the record Sniff is right though.

With his CV, they could not afford him....

Perfect, thanks Zico that puts things in context very well even including the last sentence.

The recruitment so far has been very promising- but the amount of work needed to make our ground premiership ready is enormous in such a short time scale. I am not surprised Dane hasn’t been able to do all aspects and can see how he may have been a culture shock with the amounts involved in premiership recruitment. This dwarfs championship and bundesliga that Dane will be familiar with. Also probably bigger then those at Oly have dealt with too.

Sounds ominous. By all independent accounts he has done remarkable jobs at Barnsley and Forest. In my opinion it is no coincidence he arrives at Forest and we get promoted within 12 months ending years of under achievement and failure. Now seems like excuses being made for him to be moving on. I hope that does not mean back to the ways which led to years of failure, including under the present ownership.
