There were two moments we lucked out on but both were from errors rather than Liverpool carving us open. Outside of the Yates and sels moments, we looked strong and unlikely to concede.

What I'm not surprised at is that ultimately we got very little analysis of our play. Shearers bit on Motd is about all I've seen. Everything else has been how badly Liverpool played - as if the opposition had nothing to do with it.

It wasn't low block at all, look at our average positions in the match, it was a mid-block and flood the midfield and it worked perfectly.

Low block is the devil's tactic but this new genius mid block sounds great.

It does sound similar to low block though, 30% possession, counter attacking, creating few chances. It's definitely different and therefore way better though and definitely not the same thing. Great tactic, I love it.

Excellent performance to nullify those weapons though. Great start to his Forest career for Moreno.

Spot on

Some truly excellent performances though, whole back 4, Yates doing what he does best.
Lets not get carried away, good as yesterday was we will have bad days too. Enjoy the ride.

The mid - block and smothering of midfield was a master stroke- the reason McCallistar kept falling over was to get Yates booked first half to stop his effectiveness out of possession- glad decent ref didn’t buy it. Dominguez and Anderson ran further than anyone else on the field and they went off on 60 minutes or so. Wood was also tremendous in giving an outlet - giving the long option and relieving some pressure - enabling resets even if he didn’t always maintain possession. MGW off the ball running and energy helped in the goal. The back 4 though were amazing. Moreno and aina were on the whole magnificent and a special mention to Williams who carried on where Moreno left off. Milenkovic and Murillo - show me a more balanced centre half pairing -I’ll wait…
Liverpool manager and fans moaning at our tactics - inject those tears!

Am I right in saying Yates did a job on Mcalister when he played for Brighton? McAlister's game plan was definitely trying to get him booked early.

Ask any premiership midfielder who they hate playing against- I’d bet Yates would be right up there…

It was block the midfield and we did it all game, if you look at the average positions of our team it certainly wasn't low block.

Brilliant win though.

Any of the Nuno haters missing their low block crap football from before Nuno?????

Not MGW's best game but he really showed his intelligence on the move for the goal when he made a run directly at Konate which made him hesitate for just a second and drop just a bit deeper. It allowed CHO to cut in and shoot around him.

Yes it was a great run that which took Konate out and opened up the space for CHO to go into and shoot and score.

However I too was a bit brassed off with MGW on Saturday mainly at how he keeps throwing himself to the ground looking for cheap free kicks and then losing possession. It's a tad annoying and I wish he would cut it out of his game.

RE: Liverpool - Nottingham Forest - Marinakis Red - 16-09-2024

I think I've just about sobered up. What a performance that was, tactically that performance was pretty much spot on, in the end if we had scored a second, it would not have flattered us.

The signings this summer have taken us up another level. The back 4 absolutely superb. The organisation that milenkovic has brought alongside Murillo cannot be missed.

Nuno and the subs at the right time and we went for it. We shut them out so well after the goal too. Very very impressive.

Looking forward to hearing from all of the journos and pundits that wrote us off at the start of the season without understanding what we had brought in to the club.

The belief this will give the players knowing that they can perform to that level and concentrate defensively for the full game cannot be underestimated either. A monumental win for this club. We will now grow further from here. We are turning in to a very good football team that has a bit of everything about them. Solidity, flair, strength, experience and real quality.

All the opportunities we had were not clear enough and they defended great, they threw themselves in front of the ball."
Didn’t really wind me up as he did give credit- it’s the spin reporters have put on it…

I notice all journalists are now reporting and saying we play in a mid block and it's nunos way, I wasn't that mad after all was I? lol
