RE: Blackpool - Nottingham Forest - ozzyten10 - 08-01-2023

Surridge had a mare in front of goal. In his 20 or so appearances it was his worst by a mile. Agree we need better but would only let go if we have a replacement. I think he overall impact at the club since joining has given him a bit of credit in the bank for me.
Dennis on the other hand looks like he doesn’t play for the team and gives the ball away too often- trying to hard? Or just an ego? Who knows? I think his reputation doesn’t help and his penalty incident for Nigeria sums him up. I thought he did OK yesterday to be honest apart from the chance Scarpa laid on for him.
Scarpa has loads of talent and I have seen enough to suggest he will have a positive impact but second half he became a bit greedy. Toff had a right go at him for shooting when a simple pass was on but having seen Toffolo miscontril 2 previous passes I’m not sure he had any right.

Williams and obrien worry me much more - obrien has had an illness and he looks a stone lighter - that could be a factor.

Williams - I think he is more of a wing back and will need to work hard on his defensive aspects. Interesting his last 2 games he has come on as sub as a makeshift right winger.

When he had played left back he has looked better- maybe he concentrates more on his ‘wrong’ side?

Surprised about the comments re Surridge, he's always given his all and his finishing has been top class. What doesn't surprise me is the things said about Williams. Ive been saying the same things since he signed.

Thanks Villa. We haven’t had the most embarrassing weekend after all.

At least its not another trek down to Southampton...

Having reflected over the last 24 hours Im thinking maybe yesterday's result, despite the embarrassing nature of it, was the best long term outcome for our season this year. Its so boring hearing the term 'concentrating on the league' but in our case it couldn't be more appropriate, especially if we beat Wolves on Wednesday.

Yes it was embarrassing but at the end of the day we were never going to win the FA cup, neither are Blackpool or Stevenage and neither are Chelsea....I would rather stay in the premier league than have a good cup run and the same goes for the game on Wednesday.

Maybe so but getting knocked out early doesn't necessarily mean staying up and vice versa.

I'm sad we lost but in this instance I thought it was the right choice to rotate. That said I hope we're back at full strength on Wednesday.

No it doesnt but it certainly removes the risk of injuries and fatigue as a result of the games.

Last year the fa cup was used by the club to build confidence and fan connection and without the run we had we may not have got over the line and got promoted. That wont be the case this season, its guts amd determination that's the key to sucess.
