With the world cup looming, the sacking season is early this season. Im sure the club will have been quietly sending feelers out for a while now. You cant criticise them for that, its sound management. RE: Your Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager - Liars Bar - 04-10-2022 Benitez? Ranieri? Jesus Christ. I think that would be me done with football not just Forest. RE: Your Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager - optimistic_red - 04-10-2022 I think it makes sense for the new manager to be ready before sacking the old one. I don't understand teams that sack a manager then wonder what to do (I'm looking at you Bournemouth). I'd fully support Cooper, and am prepared to have a poor season and go down but be a stronger squad. However the contract situation does cause massive problems, if we are going to support Cooper and stick with him, he needs to be contracted until 2024 minimum. RE: Your Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager - Sausage Roll - 04-10-2022 Guardian also saying possibly either Benitez or Dyche. Given the choice I'd rather the latter. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/oct/04/nottingham-forest-rafael-benitez-steve-cooper-job-manager?CMP=share_btn_tw RE: Your Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager - Salvatore Matrecano - 04-10-2022 If we assume the aim of the game is survival and you had to pick one name of those we are listed above then I would choose Dyche without a doubt. Unfortunately I fear we may be back to the bad old days of short term fixes and chucking money at the problem. However I am sure there are managers out there who can build a team for the future, the trick is finding the next Graham Potter. Kjetil Knutsen is the one most frequently mentioned who fits that bill. And sometimes the environment in the squad is so toxic the only thing to do is to get rid of the coach asap. We've not got that with Cooper thank god. I hope he's being/will be treated well by those above him. It's a shame for Cooper that he's made a tactical error in not accepting the new contract. Whether that be because he wanted to hold out for more money/ years, felt it was better to wait, had an approach from someone else (wales?), whatever, I bet he's wishing he'd signed it now. He may go on about how he loves the club, what the job means to him etc etc but in a few days he might be realising that a million quid of additional compo in his pocket is quite significant. Dyche is 100% a pragmatic, short term fix. He’d likely keep us up, based on his past record. He’d certainly make us more organised defensively. But, he’s unlikely to help us kick on after that. I’m sure he’d love the job if he was given the chance though. RE: Your Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 04-10-2022 This is NOT itk info but just my personal opinion. If Steve Cooper leaves the club my choice to replace him would be Nuno Santo. In terms of fitting our squad, he would definitely fit the bill. We’ve spent all summer recruiting for a 532 and he’s done really well in the league with a similar sized club. I’d happily have him here. |
