I suppose they had a couple of written offers that would set the release clause. He would earn a few extra quid this season by signing a new one. Hopefully the release is to clubs in a higher division.

BJ wanting to stay is great news. The contract however is a totally different matter, devoid of emotion. I'm sure a release clause will be included making the decision BJ's and nobody else.

Id still resist the release clause if i were the club, unless of course it was something ridiculous. You cant have a player knowing he czn walk at any opportunity that suits him. Contracts are two way things. The protect the interest of both parties.

And Brennan will be on something like £5k a week at the moment. That'll be the biggest contributing factor in him signing a new contract, not emotional loyality etc.

No, ive never believed he was actively looking to leave. My gripe is the terms he was dictating to stay. You cant one day be thumping the badge and going mental with the fans afyer scoring and then next day negotiating to be able to leave at a third of your value. If you're committed you have to commit.

I just love where our club is at the moment. Players want to be here and feel entitled that they are. If we did beat the odds and get promoted this season I can see us taking off as a club in the premier league.

It would give Forest another swing at promotion next season if we swing and miss this year.

Having looked at West Ham, Man U and Liverpool in the FA Cup, I don't think Forest have anything to fear from promotion.
