We virtually played our second eleven against mainly their first eleven. There were players who had never played together before. We controlled the game, never looked like losing, defended very very well. What is the problem? Come on Sniff I thought you were better than this. You are not being objective in saying that we played our second eleven and they played their first. Who is ' a second eleven' ? Worrall ? McKenna?, Cafu? Ameobi' Lolley? Arter? Taylor ? Yates? Who else? ... it's not as if we played Swan and another three kids st thd same time. At best I can give you Smith as the official back up, but I thought that Bong played better then Ribs , Jenkinson wasnt that far away from Christie, Sow and Mighten came on too... so let's try to honest here ...result was good , central defenders were very good, Smith was good, Taylor scored a great goal from a good Bong cross for the rest...it was worst than in previous weeks... Lolley is red gressing, Ameobi as bad as he can be, Cafu played in a more defensive role was totally ineffective and Guerrero ? My guess is that is the last we see of him.. Yeah he said he wanted business done early. Wants to lighten the squad. Doesn’t expect anything to happen this week, but he can only hope. The one big thing is, he said knockeart loan not 100% signed as far as he knew RE: Nottingham Forest - Cardiff City - Big red - 09-01-2021 Thank you RE: Nottingham Forest - Cardiff City - Strawberry Avenger - 09-01-2021 (09-01-2021, 05:39 PM)Maltared Wrote:(09-01-2021, 03:12 PM)Sniffer Dog Wrote: Why was it awful? He has said he won't bring players in unless they improve the squad. Keen to rebalance the squad with less players as it's difficult to give them all game time. Wasn't 100% certain Knockerwas done. It's a characteristic of this recent run and the close results before that Chris has Forestvplaying as a tighter unit. More difficult to beat. A more robust muck and nettles character. So we played like that and won. I'd take that to get us to mid table safety. Pity it wasn't a league game to take us lowercmid table. Sweet run by Bong with nonchalant finish by Lyle. But Cardiff bossed the midfield without Yates and Sow in there. Resolute twin towers of Worrall and McKenna reminded me of better times. SA. We controlled the game, never looked like losing, defended very very well. What is the problem? At full fitness and full strength I reckon the dead certs for a starting XI from todays starting XI are only Worrall, McKenna and one of the wide lads. (A fully fit, on form Lolley will be like a new signing when it happens). The only bits I would say are a bit disingenuous are Jenkinson- nothing at all going forward, scared of receiving the ball at the back and defensively struggled with the two CBs saving him a number of times. For a tall lad pretty weak in the air at the long throws. So (and I am definitely not a big fan of Christie) I'd say he was miles away from Christie. That said he is understandably rusty. Also Ribs is a much better defender than Bong and has shown he is normally decent going forward. Fair play to Bong on his delivery today, but still only a back up to Ribs for now-unless Ribs has many more Preston performances. The rest may have been bought as 1st teamers but 1st choice 1st XI is debatable. On reflection Cafu probably as no other fit in form option. The rest mainly warming the bench or treatment table.... So for me a really positive day. RE: Nottingham Forest - Cardiff City - Redreg - 09-01-2021 If houghton wants to balance squad i would be looking at bringing in a CM that can consistently pass the ball forwards and dictate the play . only one of yates/colback/sow can play arter not good enough although was better today . Cafu/Guerrero not the answer at 10 hopefully freeman is fit and on form if not that is the other position we are short no creativity or anyone to drive with the ball another reason the wide players look poor, nobody to link the play with them everything is down the line from the fullbacks . If we don’t sign anyone then its a must to recall johson or Joao . RE: Nottingham Forest - Cardiff City - optimistic_red - 09-01-2021 I thought Bong played well, generally under control. Goes to show how important 1st impressions are! Jenkinson's positioning scares me. Not sure if he hadn't come from a big team he would still have a shirt. Arter looks to be going through the motions. Lolley and Ameobi both not at the races today. The Cafu/Ater midfield was worth trying, better the cup than league. Arter has been the biggest disappointment of the summer signings. Thought Houghton got the team right. Rested key players, gave valuable minutes to others, without disrupting too much. RE: Nottingham Forest - Cardiff City - ThePromisedLand - 09-01-2021 Arter was - I regret - way off the pace ( yet again ). I fear he will become a long term member of the bomb squad. |
