A solid point at least last night. Think we look much better organised when we only have one DMC and two other MC in front of them. Playing two deep midfielders just seems to give the other team to much room in the centre of the park to do what they want.
The defence worked well tonight as well. A lot more talking going on so pretty please with that. Few more games of getting the base right and i think CH can then start to look at the attacking side of the team. 4-3-3 is definitely the way forward for us i think.

Wow there seems to be an almost universal consensus that despite not winning we actually looked solid. We must've played well then!
Worrall was a big addition, now lets hope he can stay fit. He made Figs good, imagine what he'll do to Mckenna

Seems the fullbacks played much better with a single DCM pivot too. Hughton has got a tough job as he's having to stop the rot before finding the magic formula for playing expansively and scoring goals. Hopefully its going to click sooner rather than later. Worry is tho, with the lack of subs and players seemingly running on empty- can we keep fielding a similar side?

Then allow me to interject...
There was a bit of unhappiness around yesterday so I liked the positivity on the match thread, so didn't want to be the party pooper last night. But have people's expectations been so diminished that a 0-0 at home without a shot on target against a team content for a point and playing poorly is a positive?!
Watford's away record is actually poor, 7 pts from 7 matches away prior to last night, 16th in the away table. It's at home where they have 19 points from 7 matches that they do the damage. Win your home matches, draw the away ones and all that.
I thought Watford were unadventurous but also poor; off the pace, somewhat lethargic, miscontrolling the ball. With them off form I thought we should have made more effort to go for the 3 points, but it was the usual safety first approach, we also seemed content to bring in a clean sheet.
And yet another match that Knockaert was poor yet played every minute while our young prospect's development continues to be held back, which means our preparation for next season is held back.
I agree on Worrall though, I've long said his importance is underrated and will be harder to replace than most think. One member of an excellent squad who should be in the top 6 or thereabouts.

Wozza carried Figs loads last year. no surprise to see Figs return to form when Wozza returns too.
I really hope that we look to upgrade Figs before next season. Even as backup, we need someone who isn't so reliant on other's influence.
Maybe Soh's the man in time, but Hughton clearly doesn't fancy him yet.

someone getting constantly stuck in, last ditch interceptions, clearances, blocks, headers, looking composed on the ball, even happy to get involved in intricacies at the other end of pitch while rest of team is watchin on, ain't a player being carried, any player can make mistakes or just make the wrong decision, everything Figs did was decisive and correct and nowt to do with anyone else, especially another player who on his day is capable of making bad decisions and been the scapegoat on here many, many times
Figs was man of the match last night, imo, the sort of defending we need if we are going to get more confident and attack minded, he did all the crucial, last ditch stuff last night and inspired others, Watford players started kicking anyone and everyone ... but not Figs, Deeney was scared of him in the end and nearly scored because Wozza weren't doing stuff as decisively, for a split second as Figgy done all night.

Good points you make but for me the positivity was all about stopping the defeat run, getting a clean sheet and so stopping the rot. Worrall's return, and Figs' improvement as a result should be inspirational. I thought Arter being able to complete the 90 minutes was a positive and he will be able to build from that and Cafu didn't let himself down and showed promise. No, we didn't do much up front but were were playing Taylor on his own up there. He shows endeavour but he's not as effective as Grabban is on his own. Taylor wasn't helped by Lolley's poor display - he had one of those nights but we know he's got quality. I agree Watford were poor but we shut them out which I think was CH's main ambition on the night. So overall, a positive night for me.

Cafu will get better once he gets match fit and has had 10 starts with the players around him and gets to know them.
He is the player we need...........same with Arter. You saw plenty of attacking from Cafu and Arter.
When we go with Colback/Yates.......nothing happens.......except lots of sideways and back passes.
For me........you play either Yates or Colback as your defensive midfielder.
Arter or Cafu alongside, or Arter alongside and Cafu more forward, like last night.
