You're right. Can we all agree not to write Wood off until he's had a few games, and more importantly, had a few weeks on the training ground with Cooper. Taiwo looked poor when he first arrived and took a good long time to look capable.

Today we knocked plenty of balls up in the air for him today. To be honest I can’t remember him winning any. If he isn’t doing that what is he for. His hold play isn’t great. He makes Nigel Clough look like he ran like a Greyhound. I know Surridge has flaws in his game but we look much more dangerous when he plays. It’s a shame Taiwo got injured when he did because was beginning to look very effective. I would be disappointed if we end up buying Wood for £15 m.

I agree up to a point but Taiwo was new to the premier league and English football whereas Wood is supposedly an established premier league player.

I think Cooper's idea was that Williams pace and forward ability would put that Struik guy under pressure (who looked bang average). What happened though is that their midget winger pushed Williams back. But Aurier bossed him when he came on.

Pace? Williams is a very tidy footballer but pace is the one thing he seriously lacks for a fullback at this level. He's not particularly slow or anything, but where on earth did you get the idea he had pace from Pap?

I meant energy and ability to get forward. He might not be as quick as Brennan but he's no slouch. When he qas clean through on goal he matched the defenders for pace, it was his control of the ball that let him down.

So we have our new scapegoat - Chris Wood.

First it was Colback, then Worrall, then Yates and now Wood.

Newsflash we won a massive game 1-0.

Yep,  harsh on the fella imo.  Ayew was a whipping boy last week, until fans realisied what a decent record he had, was still an international, and that he went to the world cup and actually scored. Our fans can be so judgmental based on nothing. And repeat for Kouyate and Bolly, both who cost little but look accomplished in the side.

Im at the stage now where after a dodgy start Cooper has demonstrated to me that he does actually know what he is doing in this league.  He did exactly what was required to shut the back door after our disastrous start.  And on that basis if he thinks that Wood will add something to the side then I'm going to say fair enough and give the Wood some time before judging him.  Hopefully we'll be able to get results while he becomes assimilated.

Wood looked disappointed in his performance yesterday. He didn't have a great game but by all accounts he's a top pro and I fully expect him to play much better and significantly contribute before the end of the season!

I got that impression of him when he went off. No He did have a poor game, no doubting that.

I thought this was a discussion forum? Nobody has made Wood a scapegoat unless I have missed something. We call things as we see it.

In my opinion Boly was man of the match by a mile. Navas had a great debut.
Mckenna Lodi MGW Freuler all steady
Williams struggled big time 1st half but ran himself into the ground 2nd
Mangala off the pace and Cooper was correct Danilo was one tackle away from a red card
Colback is a great squad player to have on the bench
Wood was really disappointing. Surridge was far more effective. Thats a fact.

It is, one which I work very very hard on day in day out and support from my own pocket so forgive me if I get a little brassed off from moaning negative posts occasionally.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Leeds United - Salvatore Matrecano - 06-02-2023

Fair enough Sniff and I hope we all appreciate the effort you put in.

Nobody likes constant moaning, at the same time it would be a boring forum if all we did was say how brilliant everything was.

Danilo will get a second yellow if he doesn't get subbed.
If it wasn't for Navas, Leeds would be out of sight.
We have had 1 touch in oposition box.

Wood had certainly been disappointing, and i still feel nervous about McKenna as he always has a mistake in him.

The result all that matters, but Boly has been an unreal signing.
