On this day 21/12 in 1996 Nottingham Forest in Stuart Pearce's first game as player/manager defeated Arsenal thanks to Alf-Inge Haaland's brace at The City Ground.
What an atmosphere that was. Can't believe it was 24 years ago

Wow that was 24 years ago?
Was a great day remember it well, the game turned on Ian Wright getting sent off and can still see the ball dropping nicely to Alfie’s foot in the las minute followed by bedlam.
Think the sending off was due to some world class play acting by Jerkan if I remember? About the best thing he did in his Forest career. Now then how about we sign Alfies son?

Nigel was on the bench but he came on for Bryan Roy, Kevin Campbell and Dean Saunders partnered Roy up front.

What I would give to have that front 3 now, Campbell, Saunders and Roy.

It's true that he wasn't great for us but he had a great career at Derby and Liverpool.

All 3 of them in their day were top quality premier league strikers. Unfortunately that season, Saunders was on the decline, Campbell still hadn't got over a long term back injury and Roy was moping around trying to get a move away.

On this day 26/12/1977 Nottingham Forest drew 0-0 with Liverpool in front of 47,000 spectators at the City Ground.
I unfortunately had to miss this match because I broke my leg a few days before.

One of my favourite ever nights at the CG. Bank holiday evening, everyone a few beers to the good, mist rolling in, terrific atmosphere, smashing the Sheep.
As well as the 5 goals we had a feeling we were going somewhere that season under BD, we had just started to put a run together and I think it was the last season I felt truly optimistic. Remember walking out of the Trent End that night and just looking at peoples faces, literally everyone singing, laughing and grinning from ear to ear, it was just brilliant.
