Season Ticket Refunds

I was just reading an article on the the Athletic about season tickets and apparently Sunderland are refusing to give refunds if the matches are played behind closed doors and instead offering access to watch the game online. 

I can't see how that would be legal although seems unlikely it'll matter as the league one season will surely get called off.

However did get me thinking, does anyone know what we're doing? I'd be interested to hear what people intend to do assuming the options are refund, future credit or not claim.

I've already paid for next season so I guess a credit would cover some of 21/22 season card. That's a long way off but I don't want to hurt the club but don't want to lose that much money either.

Yeah I wouldnt want to harm the club, on the other hand when you consider player salaries and how small a proportion of this a refund would be, so I feel less bad.

Need to add:

1. Credit towards 21/22 season ( many of us have already shelled out for next season )
2. Priority refund of away tickets purchased ( Sheep & Wednesday ) - I’m way in excess of £200 out of pocket for those 2 games.

Voted refund as I don't equate the cost of a lost game to be of the same value as viewing the game on Iplayer. I would say I'd take a credit against next years ST but at this stage, I'm not sure if I't's going to be safe to go along with my Dad (who's in his seventies), so I cant even be certain I'm even going to buy a ST for next season.

If fans want their money back then they are fully entitled - with no comeback.

That's my sentiment. The owner isnt that poor, is he?  I reckon it'd only cost a couple of million to provide refunds for the lost games. But, if the FFP parameters stay the same then that might change my thinking, ie I wouldn't want the refund to be the difference between us being able to sign a new player or not. Basically I'd want the club to spell out where they stand financially before I'd take a refund. I'm happy to cwrite the money off if it makes a difference, but not just so the owner doesn't have to put his hand in his pocket a bit more.

Everyone’s different, but nothing other than a full refund will do for me.
I’ve got absolutely no interest in watching any streamed games, because football isn’t a television program. And without fans it will feel like a reserve game.
I also don’t want a credit to spend in the club shop as I spend very little there.

The silence from the club is absolutely deafening and I’ve lost a bit of respect for the club with how long it’s taking.

I like many others have already purchased next years season ticket, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it, but I’d want a refund for any game I’m not allowed to attend.

I’m really not bothered about this season, I paid it last year, not the clubs fault, wouldn’t say no to a credit but won’t worry if not.

However next season is a worry, I’ve already paid for 3 season tickets and really can’t see 20000 people being allowed in a stadium. Wish the club would at least make some comment.

Exactly the same sentiment here although my Dad is only in his 60s. Also I fear he'll want a ticket regardless of whether it's comfortably safe!

Once it is confirmed what is happening for the remainder of the season, and assuming it is to be played behind closed doors, I think they should offer a refund for matches missed. A lot of people would spend some of that refund on the ifollow anyway. And they would do so willingly, so keeping goodwill between club and supporter - until they realise it's turd :)

I think the EFL need to make a decision on FFP first though, i.e. increasing the limit temporarily, else clubs could push themselves into trouble by trying to do right by the supporters.

We don't know what the state of play will be next season, or where things stand with FFP, so I'm happy to be patient. Would be annoyed if they didn't offer a rebate of some kind, but best not to stress about things that may never happen :)
