Is MON about to unleash Carv on the championship at last, judging by the after match comments last night he may well be getting his chance shortly.
Wonder if it’s been the cunning plan all along to rest him completely so he is fresh for the final push.
Not playing him may well be a master stroke, I am looking forward to seeing him in a MON team.
It looks like Lolley has been given the freedom to run at defences, wonder if Carv will be given the freedom to play the way he does best.
Not getting carried away but for the first time in years I’m finally looking forward to the end of a season.

Search out the bbc post match interview with MON. He said there may be quality within the squad that he hasnt been able to look at yet because needs must at the moment.

I think MON always planned in using Carv it was just a case of not just throwing him in and hope he could do magic. Looking at the comments he has made when he talks about him and the training it looks and feels like he knew he had talent but needed to coach him the ways to use it and when to use it. In training games he has been played where you expect Watson or geddy to play at the bottom of a diamond midfield. Lots of dropping for the ball turning and looking for that pass to split teams and turn defenders. He is really being challenged to use his brain more than his natural ability as well as a lot of strengthening exercises.

i think MON will favour big physical players which are more suited to getting you out of this league. time will tell. we arent bullied anymore.
if only karanka made decisions like putting on osborn rather than dias against norwich.

He is our secret weapon. he's an extra 10-13m which can be sold & far better spent by MON in the summer

If he doesn't bring his A game then, yes, that would be option 2
Hmm. Be interesting to see his response. Either way, Forest can't lose.
MoN has brought a heap extra out of the rest of the players.
Now...we'll see in due course how Car' reacts...

Maybe I shouldn’t read too much into it, it’s good to move players around sometimes to give them appreciation of the bigger picture, but who else plays in the diamond in those sessions? The position we seem most stocked at is the deeper sitting midfielder, hope it doesn’t suggest Colback won’t be kept on. Lolley and Cash/Appiah on the edges of the diamond? Would leave us light on players to break up play and screen the back 4. Practicing for when teams come to defend against us? A manager having a plan B?!
Good to hear the players are actually being coached though ?

It was a 100% necessity, in this case. If someone hadn't started coaching the poor lad I'd have ended up with self-inflicted baldness, from pulling my hair out this season.
I've held back on these stats, until the mood became more positive, as I wanted fans behind the club, rather than squabbling over an individual, but our #10 is 8th, in this squad, when it comes to shots per game, behind Yates & Guédioura, amongst others.
A #10 should be top 5 in that stat, & certainly not behind deeper sitting midfielders & he's 9th in passing accuracy, another area he should be top 5.
In terms of actual number of passes he averages 32, which is 12th.
Of course a #10 isn't just about creativity, if you defend from the front, as all teams should, a #10 is also key to keeping the opposition locked in. Look at the game Monday night, Murphy & Yates shut down Huddlestone & because of that 60% of Derby's possession was with their defensive players, in their defensive third of the pitch, effectively neutering them.
Our #10 comes 16th in our squad when it comes to average tackles per game, 22nd when it comes to interceptions (Ryan Yates has already made more in total, in 20 games less), & Carvalho is 18th when it comes to blocking the ball.
He's also 3rd in our squad when it comes to being dispossessed, & 2nd when it comes to losing the ball through bad ball control.
Those stats are totally unacceptable for a #10, because they present the ball to the opposition far to often & provide no defensive line between the opposition & our deep lying midfielders, inviting pressure on to our team.
Essentially, when the opposition is in possession, we've been effectively playing with 10 men.
This should have been scouted before the player was signed & dealt with on the training ground in pre-season.
I don't blame the lad, he's 21, a stranger in a strange land, so he only knows what he knows, but our coaches let him down badly, at cost to this club.
Wow NG3, should we change your name to stato, very impressive.
Good post. Makes it easier to see why his pitch time has been limited of late.
