Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager
#1
Tree
We already have a thread on the current Nottingham Forest manager so I thought I would create a thread on the next Nottingham Forest manager.

These are threads that run and run forever, not short term threads.

Well, first of all I am not calling for the managers head, so we can put that to bed.

However,  it's inevitable that at some stage and it could well be sooner rather than later there is going to be a change of manager.

So, who is out there?  Who, if/when Marinakis pulls the trigger would you like to see given the job?

The usual names will no doubt crop up, Martin O'Neil and Roy Keane, Nigel Clough, Big Sam is out of work, Mad Mick also out of work, David Moyes and Stuart Pearce, they seemed to work well together at West Ham (these are out of work managers, not saying we should get them).

Interested to hear your opinions for when the inevitable happens...

I agree it’s inevitable but to state the blindingly obvious, the constant rotation of mangers is the biggest reason we have been out of the prem for 20 years.

I agree Salvatore but that won't be a factor where Marinakis is concerned.

I also agree about the point made in the previous post about Karanka being stubborn.

It seem like he hasn't learned anything from the problems he encountered at Boro, he seems incapable of changing, it's either his way or you are out.

I agree Karanka has his faults, so do most managers, look at Mourinho.
Sniffer what do you mean “wont be a factor with Marinakis”? Assume you mean he is ruthless and will axe manger if results dont come regardless of if that means constant change?

My utopia and what I genuinely believe would be perfect for NFFC

Stuart Pearce AND Paul Hart

Firstly I hate to see our managers dejected and looking so lonely during the bad times.

Also Stuart Pearce brings so much, legend, media, good transfer dealings, also dealing with big transfers, Icon, could help balance the books. Also no fear of playing young players, total passion and dedication.

Paul Hart was the best manager we have had in the last 18 years, the diamond, offensive, awesome with academy talent. He has managed in the PL. He is totally loyal as well. He certainly knows the lower leagues, assisted at Luton who scored almost as many goals as Man City last season. Positive, entertaining football.

I think Marinakis should go and grovel to these 2 guys on his knees. Give them 5 years. They will be loyal. Total Forest. A partnership, involve Gary Brazil and develop Chris Cohen. Provide transparency and good relationship with the fans through the good times and bad times.

This would succeed, it would deliver success, goals and entertainment and even if we are getting stuffed you can walk away from the City Ground feeling proud and knowing the future is in safe hands and problems will be resolved.

I want to know hard working and deserving players will be encouraged and developed. Astute cost effective signings. Shrewd transfer dealings. I want to know there is unity and the whole club is a band of brothers.

Personality and charisma and integrity are what matters most and these 2 guys would deliver 100% guaranteed.

Also if we end up in embargo or skint, these would get us out of it, they wouldn't need to rely on the cheque book (or 100 page post match dossiers) or putting right wingers on the left so they can scream at them for 90 minutes.

Please no more short term, desparate, PL or bust, crappping on the academy, revolving door.

I just want to be proud of NFFC, I'd follow these guys, they are true and loyal and Forest

I would love to see Pearce back at the club in some capacity, definitely not as manager though!

Would love mccarthy although he has already rejected us once. Would offer continuity in style too although not necessarily a good thing. I’d be happy to sell our souls for a year and take Big Sam too.

I suggested dean smith yesterday too although I can’t see him wanting the job. I do like the idea of stealing a promotion rivals manager though or maybe offer them a swap deal...

Seriously though hopefully karanka can sort it out still. Just needs to show some willingness to adapt his approach slightly.

While I'm not too keen on MM he was absolutely right to turn us down as it turned out, but you've got to remember that was under Fawaz, I think it'd be a different matter if he was offered it now.

Stuart Pearce?!
Absolute legend of a player - disaster as coach / manager. He should stick to punditry.

It would need to be someone who can i) work with limited funds ii) someone who can work with, coach & improve existing players iii) someone who will get the best out of our record signing iv) someone who can work with both domestic & foreign players vi) someone who can respect our academy & vii) someone with experience & a good track record at this level.

I think there is a current out of work manager who ticks most, if not all of those boxes and I think he would be interested to take on the roll if offered.

He's worked in the East Midlands before and he really enjoyed living in the area.

He also had a very short spell in Greece where he would have come across Mr. Marinakis.

I am talking about Claudio Ranieri.

Could we tempt him? (if/when the position becomes available). Would you want him?

I would take him.
