Very very tough game. They have their confidence up now and will be properly fired up.
Not a situation we have been used to, its normally Forest playing a technically superior opponent but having the greater determination to win. Other way around this time, hopefully we can rise to the occasion. Having said that, win and we go 5th.

JWP in for Dominguez (who did very well particularly 2nd half vs Palace)
Other than that unchanged including starting Elanga over Jota.

Massive incentive to win with going (through probably temporarily) into the European places. Won't be easy though - with a couple of wins they're looking a lot more comfortable now. Helped by the four teams who haven't won yet of course.
A draw wouldn't be disastrous but I'd love the win.

I said to my dad before the Palace game that if we beat Palace I would take a draw at Leicester.
I haven't changed my mind.

There’s a lot of talk about Jota over Elanga. I wouldn’t be surprised if neither start if MGW is fit. I think we’ll want to win the midfield battle and I could see something like:
Sels Aina Milenkovic Murillo Moreno Ward-Prowse Yates CHO MGW Anderson Wood Nuno seems to like the ability for Anderson to drop back and support in the middle. If Morgan is still out then I’d start Elanga and have Anderson as the #10. I’ll be watching the game with my friend who supports Leicester. Unfortunately I’ll be in the home end, so I’ll be sitting on my hands!

Forest will travel to Leicester on Friday night to play in a Derby of sorts. Not our main rivals but the closest thing we have right now so will take it.
With Cooper in charge, we can expect the team to have a realistic view points on what needs to be done on the night. They will look to stay in the match by staying compact and defensively solid before becoming more advantageous in the closing stages, yet dangerous on the counterattack. At the moment, Leicester City mainly employs a traditional 4-2-3-1 defensive formation. However, later in matches, Cooper switches to 3-4-3 attacking formation. This relies on the speed and width of the wide midfielders and on the ability of the forwards to press effectively. Leicester place a high value on a deep build-up, with short passes from the back line to encourage a high press before playing longer balls into percentage dangerous areas. During the build up we will often see the fullbacks moving to form the midfield pivot allowing the midfielders to push higher up for the longer ball and be closer to the target players to win the second ball. Leicester will look to attack with aggressive runs in behind from the midfielders, especially whenever the opposing full-back jumps out to press the wide attackers, they look to use third man passing to get the ball behind the defence. As before with forest we are seeing that even when they attack early on during the game they still keep three players in the back line, with a double-pivot screening. This forms a 3-2 shape underneath the ball. Most of the protection, to guard against potential counterattacks through central spaces. Without the ball Leicester like to move to a 4-4-2 pressing system on a low to mid block in place. Just a quick summary of what we can expect. Leicester like to attack down the wings and defend from the centre, with 41% of their attacking touches coming from the left hand sided and 31% from the right. Most of the build up play is done in the middle third of the pitch for which 46% of their passes are made. Leicester will look to make through ball often behind the backline and as such have a high caught offside count. When in the final Third Leicester rely on players running with the ball rather than build up play and crosses into the box. Most of Leicester shooting opportunities come from central areas and from inside the 18 yard box, they rarely (only 8% of the time) shoot from within the 6 yard box. Leicester have scored in every match so far this season Goal scored xG of 1.04 when at home and average over 1.5 goals per game overall. Leicester are an aggressive team and do give away freekick often and in dangerous positions. However they are very good when defending high balls into the box. Goals conceded xG when at home is a solid one and have only managed to keep one clean sheet this season which was the last home match against Bournemouth. Not only did they keep the clean sheet they managed to win the match, something Forest could not do. In the last 15 meetings all things are square with both teams winning 5 matches and the remaining 5 being a draw Forest have scored in every away game so far and have scored first in 7 of the 8 games played so far. Looking at form would calculate forest have a 50% chance of a win while a Leicester win and draw sit at 25% each. However Leicester come into this game off two wins in a row and a few extra days recovery. Going to be a tight game and with forest struggling to put teams to bed in matches I would predict a tight 0-1 win for the Forest but I wouldn’t be surprised in a draw.

We will get quite a lot of chances. We need to take them.
23-10-2024, 11:19 AM
So what happens? We both sit off the ball and try and counter attack the other? Do we make them change their approach and they take more possession or do we become the ones with the most possession? We average about 39% and Leicester 42%

JWP has done nothing to say he should come straight back in, Dominguez should keep his place for me.

yep unchanged team for me bar MGW being fit

I'd bring JWP back in for Dominguez. And if MGW is fit, drop Elanga to the bench.
