Last throw of the dice for Southgate.

Can he finally deliver a trophy?

No Rashford, Sterling or Henderson (Jordan) in the squad so that is a good start.

MGW posted four laughing emojis on his Instagram (now removed).

Guess he thinks he should've been called up. On stats alone he delivered more than Maddison last season.

Doesn't really bode well for our hopes of keeping him, could definitely see him wanting out. Maddison was injured for a while but has earned the spot above MGW based on prior performance. Can't see MGW making it into the England setup while at Forest which is why I can imagine he might want out.

Newcastle would be the big worry, he's not good enough for the other top sides and no-one below them has enough money aside from Brighton I guess, doesn't seem like their type of player though.

Think there are a few quality players in the England squad and a lot of bang average ones plus a few newcomers that could go either way.

A lot depends if whether Bellingham and Foden can replicate their club form on the big stage. No guarantees they will.

Only Forest representatives in the Euros likely to be:
Sels - Belgium

And Forest for now at least
Mangala - Belgium
Mckenna - Scotland. We should discuss them to keep McForest happy.

Anyone else I have forgotten?

MGW probably deserved the nod but he never would have gotten near the starting lineup. The young lad from Palace is in a position where we have less players with the likes of Hendo and Philips needing replacing whereas madders doesn't even start.

Seems like we have a truly golden generation but a lack of expectation to get over the line. I'll be honest I don't know much about the other nations atm. Obviously France are strong but the bookies have us as favorites.

Couldn't care less about scotland. The name is only because i live up this way but i'm a Basingstoke boy.

On the England front i don't think Southgate will lead us to the final let alone win it. We have the attacking players for sure but i can see them being put into positions that don't get the best out of them and us having two DCM's cos the defence isn't great.

Was there an add-on for us to pay if he was called up by England, or that just speculation at the time. Could have saved us a few quid!

I am glad MGW is going to get a good rest.

I remember last summer he was with the under 21's and he came back late for pre-season knackered.

Get him rested and raring to go provided he stays of course.

A good rest before he makes his debut for Newcastle. I hope not but i fear that’s what it will be.

This is so important. It seems like our preseasons of late have been disjointed and a bit chaotic. Morgan getting some time off and coming back strong is key.

I think it will be different this year as for the first time in the premiership the club will have a full pre-season. A chance to work on set piece defending and to get the squad fully fit.
