All this talk of Neil Webb has got me fondly remembering his time at Nottm Forest.
He is one of my favourite Forest players of all time, with a brilliant eye for a pass and knew exactly where the goal was.
In his first spell he scored 47 goals in 146 appearances, a goal every 3 games.
I've found a YouTube video of a few of them.
He was England's No.8 and the 1000th person to play for England.
He was a pivotal player in the 80's.
Forest received 1.5 million for him from Man Utd, the figure was awarded by a tribunal as it was what Cloughie offered to pay him to stay.
I think of him as another whose career faded after leaving Cloughie, there were a few of those.
A ruptured achilles heel would finally inhibit his ability to play at the highest level.

Good work. Awesome player. Great character too, used to whack balls into Trentend on request during warm up. Villa offered him more than Forest in wages, but Cloughie told him, he'd make him an England player- which he did.
Edit: Just watch the clips. I always thought he wasn't very good in the air, but some fantastic headed goals in there!! Him, Nigel, Des and Psycho were foundation of a young team that became best footballing side in Country supplemented by likes of Harry Hodge, Terry Wilson and Chappo. A pure tootballing side.

Neil was kind enough to visit our local youth football club one evening to present medals to our under 11s boys. He did a lovely job by lending us his warmth and humour. Great player and a terrific man.

I know he was much derided during his second spell but he still had some magic moments then.
The cup games away at Maine Road and Ashton Gate stand out.

Spot on. We'd have won the league had he stayed. A tragedy that he did his achilles.

Never found out if it was true but I remember being told at the time that when Webb moved to Man Utd from Forest Alex Fergurson showed him a blank cheque and told Webb to fill it in.

Story in the papers today that Webby is flogging his 1st England shirt and Cap for 15k to boost his retirement fund. Wish I could afford to buy it and either a) Have it displayed when Forest museum is opened in new stand or b) Give it straight back to Webby and tell him to hang it back on his living room wall where its been for the last few years.

Not sure if Webby as a book out or not?
If he doesn't perhaps he should write one.
