I haven't broken it down into individual elements but crunching the numbers:
Last seasons rating - 6.71
Under AK this season - 6.70

Why?
Better Defenders in front of him.
Peter Shilton wouldn't have done so great with the defence Pants had in front of him.
It's a catch 22. Chicken and egg. Was it the crap defenders, the 'mixed' DCM or the Keeper. Answer? All three. Yes. After £25 million. How that happens? I don't know.
But since MoN walked in with HIS team. 3 rock solid CHs. One Diamond hard nutter and the other a classy MONSTER. And Wraggy? He just scored my san. Put that in front of Pants and you boost his game 100%. It's boosted everybody's game 100%. Then you add the Yates factor (which pre-season, he buried Bridcutt and Watson for form yet didn't get his chance...*shrugs. Now we have a £10 million DCM on our books. Non so blind are those that refuse to see. Good bye, MR. Walk Out. Rather we had our legend MoN/Keane team, ty.)
And you get strikers working their nuts off close down CHs with Grabban's languid style....and Murphy who is defying time to do what he did in the last game. Shame Car' couldn't have followed his example. Time to toughen up, Car'...and follow Yates example. And what a beauty of an example his attitude is.
Pants IS a 'decent' keeper. No worse or better than many in this league who have spilled things, flapped, let a howler in etc. He is claiming better and distributing better. They've made his game more straight forward.
That was the specialist GK coach. No doubt. But having a rock solid bunch of nutters in front of you with a reborn DCM outlook with Yates and Colback (who is just getting better and better and...)

The January strengthening of the spine has helped Pants. Now he can help the rest of the spine.
We're starting to play to the strengths of the players under the robust battle experience and steely tactical master classes that MoN is pulling out match after match.
Don't anyone dare say MoN don't do tactics. He's dry humped WBA, Brentford, Preston...who's next to get Rammed?

For me it was not just his kicking.
He has conceded goals low down that he should have been saving.
I have though noticed an improvement, I hope it continues.

Spot on, he's just belting the ball down field now.
AK had him doing this before he left, I think he gave up on his ability to play a pass with his feet.

I don't take that much notice of goalkeepers, seems like windows, buying new ones isn't very exciting and it's expensive though I do get a bit attached to what I have, they seem part of the character of the house
Pants, Smith and Steele, haven't we got enough with these guys? It would be great if Pants could kick long and accurate, maybe all can still improve?

I remember Beasant with his flying saves. Height. Claiming. Commanding. Catching. Kicking. Mature in age but he turned back the tides of time with some spectacular keeping.
Pants is 'solid' enough at this level. He's part of the character of the 'house.'
He's better because the defence is better, they're better because the DCM is better who painted the house who built the house that Martin and Keane lived in.
Pants is more confident at claiming and saving. He can kick it long. That's all he has to do. Nothing fancy.
All keepers in the Championship are having plenty of goals 'put past them.'

I am not sure about that SA.
We shouldn't settle for average.
We should be aiming higher, for a top class goalkeeper not just an average solid one.
It is such an important position.
