Nottingham Forest Academy And Under 21's
Matt Hale - Southampton Academy Director is leaving at the end of the season. Also worked with Wilson. So assuming Brazil is leaving I'd say it will be one of these two to take over.

We don't know what the situation actually is with Brazil but in my opinion the bloke should be getting whatever is the nearest to a knighthood in football club terms for the work he's done at Forest. He's headed up an Academy that has produced millions of pounds of talent and kept the football club going funds wise and on occasion caretaker manager wise through some pretty dark days. No doubt there are equivalent figures elsewhere at other clubs also doing stellar jobs that haven't made it onto our radar, so there may be alternatives but I'd be sad to see Brazil depart in a shoddy fashion. If he is to move on we should at least acknowledge and pay tribute to his achievements as so many of our academy graduates have done in interviews after moving on. If as is reported, there hasn't even been a conversation about a new contract with the club that makes me pretty uncomfortable. Singing 'he's one of our own' has been one of the proud moments of being a fan and a lot of that is down to Brazil.

Absolutely spot on.
It’s certainly not a part of the club that is broken, and I really hope we understand that getting this wrong could impact us long term if we aren’t able to sustain ourselves in the Premier League

Looks like we are in talks with Mulholland.

I look forward to hearing the reasons for Brazil and Joyce's departure. Can't hide my disappointment with it. But until we know the full facts I'll reserve judgment.

I like Gary Brazil and there is no doubt that he has done a very good job and I don't want to take anything away from that.

However I also think it's worth pointing out that our outstanding Academy was put in motion long before Gary Brazil.

Paul Hart and later Nick Marshall transformed our Academy and put our Academy on the map.

Gary Brazil has been in charge for 10 years now and we have seen a handful of talents break through in all that time who have gone on to play at the highest level. Not a huge amount for a period of 10 years. Matty Cash, Brennan Johnson and Yates all PL standard but is there anyone else? Worrall, Osborn and Burke all Championship level in my opinion.

Compare that with the likes of Michael Dawson, Jermaine Jenas, Andy Reid, Karl Darlow, Steve Stone, Scot Gemmill, Wes Morgan, Jamaal Lascelles, Marlon Harewood etc who all came through under Hart and Marshall. Then there was the likes of David Prutton and Gareth Williams etc.

I think there is a bit of food for thought.

Here is some food for thought.

The above mentioned names have generated around £60m for the club in that time. Should we be forced to sell in the summer that figure may well exceed £100m. These sales have quite literally saved the club from extinction.

In the same time our experts in recruitment have signed several hundred players, I can’t be bothered to work it out exactly, I will do one day.
How many have been sold for a profit? A handful at most for a few paltry fees.
How many have developed into Premier League players? I think there was Jack Robinson but that’s it.
How much money has been wasted? I dread to think.

Like with Cooper be careful what you wish for. Without Brazil and Marshal before him you may not have had a club to support.

Think you are going off topic there SM.

I was talking about Gary Brazil not about recruitment.

Not going off topic at all.

Brazil has quite literally saved this club’s arse.

My point is he has achieved way more than any number of recruitment teams/ managers/ coaches/ CEOs.
Some respect needed. I agree we need the full story. If he wants to develop his career elsewhere so be it. If he is being forced out you can guess my opinion.

I see.

I can see where this is going so I will refrain from commenting more.

Good post Sniff and I was talking about the same thing with my mate yesterday. We were in such a state under Doughty/Arthur and especially Fawaz that the Academy was the only positive so it gained a lot of rave reviews as there was absolutely nothing else good going on at the club at the time to focus on.

10 years is a good run and he has done a wonderful job.
No need to fear change though, I think the Academy will continue to produce the talent.
