I was not convinced by Pantilimon when he was here on loan last season and I don't know why we were so insistent on getting him in the summer.
In my opinion there were better goalkeepers available.
I am sorry to be brutally honest and if this causes offence but he is not good enough in my opinion and if we are serious about promotion then I think we need better.

A promotion winning side would have a better goalkeepthan Pants so sadly the answer is yes.
However I would be very surprised if we were to get another this year, we still have 4 senior keepers on the books if you include Henderson. We also have Liam Bossin who is already 22, no idea if he is anywhere near ready to step up yet.
Steele has never played at a high level, nearly all his senior appearances are for Barnsley if you exclude a period in the greek league.
Personally I would like Jordan smith to be given another try. A bit like Worrall he suffered playing with dodgy defensive partners which didnt help his confidence. Karanka came in and to an extent tarred evryone with the same brush so we never found out what he could do with Dawson or Fox to organise the defence in front of him. I reckon he could surprise a few if given the chance.

Pants is the best keeper we have, so to replace him means buying or loaning someone in.
I think he is good enough to get us promoted and therefore any replacement would be made in the summer following promotion, or not.
Pants then falls to back up keeper for a year or two.
We more urgently need :
Left back - one better than Robinson who will then make the left back spot a fight between them and Robinson.
Winger - someone better than Cash and Dias, a bulldozer type player who will run at defenders and take them on, big and strong. Robinson then can be back up left back and back up centre back.
That's the only 2 improvements I would make in January. Going to cost money, but if you invest well in 2 really good players who are better than what we have then the squad will really improve.
So in summary, unless a really good keeper is somehow available for some strange reason, then no, Pants until summer.

It's a yes from me I'm afraid.
I know it was a different era and times have changed but just look at the impact Peter Shilton had when he signed for Forest.
If we hadn't signed Shilton we would not have won the league and not qualified for the European Cup.
It's a vital position and we need a top class goalkeeper and at the moment we don't have one.

Doesn't the saying go something like this...
A good goalkeeper will give you an extra 10 - 12 points at the end of the season.
Lets just think about that for a minute and where that could take us...
For me a new goalkeeper in January is top of my wish list.

I don't want to signal out players but I am honest and I have voted yes.

Sadly as much as I would like everything to be rosey in the goalkeeping department in my opinion that is not the case.
I have voted yes.

It's a pretty comprehensive view!
