#13
Can we get the development done first.

If it ever changes it will be changed to some crappy corporation who has paid the most money. That money is then spend in 20 mins and you are stuck with a crap name.
No thanks

They should let the fans decide like we did when we chose a new badge (well sort of).

I want to keep the City Ground but if I had to put a new name forward I would choose the Two Star Arena

This^

We could of course name it after the player we have wasted said sponsorship on. It could have been the Fawaz Refrigeration Raffik Djebbour Arena for example.

Very simple that Stefan we would change it to the Three Star Arena.

If it brings more money into the club I’m all for it.

Can't help feel that going to the "Brain Clough Stadium" does make the venue even more iconic.

:D

Like the song says, 'City Ground...'  (Though when they do build the new stand and refurb the rest, there is the outside shout of calling it the 'New City Ground' (as long as it doesn't have rust, stained facia, faded 'pink' seats or bird muck lying around...)  I was trying to look for it on the website, but I'm sure when they put a link to the new stand up on the old website, there was mention of the term 'New' City Ground.)

If they said it was going to be 'The Brian Clough Stadium' to celebrate our greatest success and greatest manager.  I could live with that.  (Mind you, it took the club at the time far too long to just name a stand after the fellow...)

SA.

Yeah, it's a fair compromise.

I wouldn’t be happy with The Brian Clough stadium. That would be an insult imo. Our main success was down to two men, not one. We weren’t anywhere near as successful after Peter Taylor left.

Anyway, a name change should to be due to extra commercial sponsorship rather than any other considerations.

It was always going to be hard to get another European Cup even if Taylor had stayed.  He lost his mojo, went to Derby and faded without trace.  His place as Clough's no.2 is immortalised in Clough's testimony to him and in Forest fans of that era.

A great team.

But Clough did plenty on his own to show he was far more than a mere 'Shop Window' (very modest of him to say so...).  We did win cups.  And Forest did have decent league positions and he constructed a 'silver generation' team with Clough, Pearce, Keane, Hodge, Teddy etc. (I'd take that lot right now...)

By then, 'the rest' had caught up.

We all get 'old.'  Hard to match the swagger of our youth.

Did Brian miss him?  His company and laughs, leastways.

We are not moving into a new stadium so why should we change the name of the one we already have?

It wouldn't be popular with fans either I would imagine.

And what about Mull of Kintyre?

I like that Sniff, I could cope with a name change if we replaced it with that  :D
