Been a lot of talk recently about player selection and which formation would best
Suit our squad etc so I thought that debate deserved it's own thread. So who should start the next game, Ribeiro or Bong? Figs or Soh? Colback or Sow? Lolley or Freeman? Plus which formation would you like to see the manager go with?

3-4-3 not a bad shout , Mckenna Wozza (figs till fit) and soh can all bring ball forward and pass , lets 3 of lolley/Knockaert/mighten/freeman/taylor/grabben/Sammy play as a front 3 and higher up the pitch which would let us press high . Ribs/Iannou And Christie/Darikwa can play as wing backs and can all put decent crosses into box . Yates Arter Sow colback can all play as the 2 in midfield .

With Ioannou suspended and Blackett injured I suppose we will learn a lot tomorrow about the situation with Ribeiro and Bong.

Ozzy I hear what you say in regards to Jenkinson, however he is not the best fullback we have and he is right footed. Luton would not have been aware that he was comming on in that position so did not change their game plan to target him, only once did they play the ball beyond him (he was well out of position) and created their best chance of the game. Warnock will target this weakness if CH plays him there!

The thing is that we don't know if Ribeiro and Bong are in our 25 man squad or not.
I suppose we will find out tomorrow. If Jenkinson plays then they probably aren't.

i think it goes way beyond the squad selection, once again we defended more purposefully when we were outgunned and needed to score, good defenders cope with crisis split decisions and not standing in pretty lines set up to be reactionary. I feel all the managers have been trying to establish a basic but effective way of playing but it hasn't really gone up to the next level in many seasons, illustrated by the fact we were better with 10 players using there initiative and split second decision making and being set free from the usual 'make Barnsley look like Barcelona' reactionary plan. The key to taking things forward is players gelling together and knowing and trusting one another ... ideally the manager as well

PSS has nailed it. We low block the space - it has been effective to a point but now teams know how to play against it. Let the defenders defend their men and let’s play more in their half - let the wingers play as wide forwards and take away some the isolation of the centre forward.
