I would go with:

PRI 4: A DCM - strong defensively with high tempo and capable of being a bit of a play-maker as well

right yep, this has to be the priority for me, i'm thinking science has to meet biology to solve this, the biological aspect is that Watson is the Queen Bee/Ant/Termite/England he is there for everyone else but everyone else enables King Ben to thrive and enable to colony to repel all invaders.  Ben is embedded in the heart of the colony, surrounded by willing bodies who are prepared to die for him.

It works.  The team rampage around protecting the Queen but the Queen lacks mobility but the dependence on the colony makes the workers .. work very hard, as the Queen works very hard but much older and slower but wiser and braver like a warrior king from the distant past

I guess all the players wear fitbits and collect huge amounts of data, anyway, if we had a younger, leaner, meaner, quicker Ben Watson to take over the mantle, a worthy successor this would be potentially the icing on the cake, the finished masterpiece, paradise regained type thing

i think the system works, it could work alot better but it works very well, i think the system, the strategic structure should be strengthened and persevered with, future proofed and constantly improved, particularly starting with this window

Ben Watson has and is a living legend, this is the most important position and if it was dramatically mobilised and subsequently improved on it could improve the whole dynamic the most.

Bizzare analogy, but definitely not what I see at most games this season. Watson has been outstanding, off the ball as well as on it. When we lose possession at a game, I always glance back to see where the danger is. Dead easy from up in the stands, not so easy on TV. 9 times out of 10 Watson identifies the danger and snuffs it out or fills the gaps. His legs are fine and his brain even better. Of course he can't play forever, but to find someone better right now at his job would cost stupid amounts and more than likely be playing prem football currently. We have more immediate priorities as already mentioned.

Nope - in my view.
Let’s not - even for a moment - believe that Alex, Brennan et al can get us promoted.
They may well have a role to play - but as supplements to an experienced squad.

Sow seems to be injury prone & Watson is not getting any younger.
A great pity that Colback is injured - we need someone.

With Murich going back (I presume he's gone) do we need to sign another Goalkeeper or are people happy to have Smith for back up. I am presuming that Pants will never play for us again.

Pants seems like Bridcutt. His face doesn't fit. Ability? Personality clash? Not players The Coach knows or trusts.

Rib' wasn't being covered by the LW in the build up to the 1st goal. But, for me, Jordan Smith was beaten all too easily at his near post. That said, he pulled off a good save in same match.

He could do well to learn from Samba in terms of the physicality of approach and coming to claim the ball. Though, his distribution seems to have improved.

Unless a 'sound' keeper comes along for a 'song' of a price it would seem Forest's january shopping priorities lay elsewhere. Smith is as good if not better than what Murich dished out on his debut.

Smith is fine for back up, not sure how we would feel if Samba got an injury that kept him out for a while though, not that happens often with keepers. Am I correct in thinking the emergency loan system is still in operation for Goalkeepers only?
