We turned down Huckerby who then joined Norwich and lead them to promotion the next year scoring 14 goals.
I would consider Norwich a similar size or slightly smaller club to our own. Since that promotion in 2003/4 they have been promoted to the PL a further 3 times spending 7 seasons there in total.

20 years later we are still here waiting for just one decent attempt. A tale of how differently 2 clubs have been run.

A sound comparison.  Norwich, Forest's 'evil' twin, have shown the way. They also stuck with the guy that had an 'average' season the season before they got promoted.

Different class in this league, made a big difference here, and Marthur decided to not bother at 250k. Up there with missing out on Huckerby IMO

I distinctly remember a conversation with him when he was less than complimentary about the club, said he would never have signed in a million years and could not believe he agreed to play for us in the first place, and that is putting it mildly

Take those out of the equation and you have a success rate of around 30% which is still poor

Whichever way we look at it whichever way we dress it up it's poor like you say JC.

My hope is that it's something the club have realised and looked at and the quality of our loan signings will improve.

I agree with that last line Alf. Nail on head. I just hope that someone at the club is taking note.

For me that depends on the over all purpose of the loan.

If we are loaning a player who we have no chance of buying then he should be the finished article with experience.

If it is a try before you buy type of loan then that is a different story; Majewski was that type of loan, Figueredo was that type of loan, both players we could have missed out on; Goncalves and Dias are also good examples for a different reason, without the loans we may have paid good money for them and end up with them stuck on the bench.
