Are We Going Down?

Yes agreed few were injured yesterday but what about previous matches?

For the majority of time we have had only Aina out.

We built the squad to rotate due to more fixtures so f*****g use it.

I agree, Ange did rotate for that Chelsea game but not in a way that made any sense!

I do think this will be Dyche's biggest challenge and the thing I am most concerned about with him is that he has no experience of managing European trips or big squads for that matter.

100% though we need to be getting these new guys going, they're not going to improve sat on the bench or not in the squad! We should be using these extra games as an advantage to allow us to get lots of minutes for these new guys. More like Chelsea did last year in the Conference League.

I would put out the strongest team vs Utd and probably put our a team similar to Swansea for the Sturm Graz game before the Leeds game.

For me the problem is lack of squad rotation.

We all thought that we built a good squad in the summer and most of us still do so why are we not using it more?

We have 2 quality players in my opinion for every position but too many are being under used.

In fairness yesterday McAtee, Bakwa, Wood, Aina, Zinchenko were all out. Doesn't leave tons of options for rotation.

That said he could've gone with Yates, Dominguez, Hutchinson, Kalimuendo/Taiwo still. As I mentioned on the other thread, this is a big learning curve for Dyche too the Euro games and particularly with his style being to run more than the other teams. Hopefully this has taught him that he will have to rotate around the Euro games at least a bit if he wants us to be able to play the way he'd like, so that will hopefully be a good lesson.

I do agree though we need to get the likes of Kalimuendo, Hutchinson, Bakwa, Dominguez, McAtee going (when available).

Said in Bournemouth thread, Kalimuendo could have gotten a good 20-25 mins in that game by taking MGW off and letting him work with T.

That seems to be the block to rotation ATM, the unwillingness to haul MGW

With back to back league games coming up I think we will see where we are then.
Ideally 6 points, but on current form maybe hope for 4 ?
2 points? At least we’d be unbeaten, but we’d be in trouble.
Less than that ? If we lose both then might as well start planning for the championship and possibly worse.

Yes I agree there is no way MGW should start against Man Utd and Graz only one or the other or none at all.

Also both Anderson and Williams are being flogged to death unnecessarily.

MGW is undroppable in this mind

Yes that appears to be the case.

So Dyche should teach him a lesson and drop him.

Certainly wouldn’t drop MGW against Man Utd
He always plays well against them !

I know how good he is but I was genuinely surprised Anderson started on Sunday and he should've been subbed way earlier on Thursday. There was a point where he just clearly ran out of energy. It's great he's in the England team but it has come at a pretty heavy cost for us with him not getting any rest.

The Porto win bought us some breathing room in the EL at least, we can risk rotating some players vs the weaker teams hopefully.

The MGW hate is going way too far IMO, we already knew he was terrible at shooting. He's got three assists plus the pen v Porto, that's more than anyone else has contributed in terms of assists. I'd be looking at the likes of CHO, Bakwa and Hutchinson, N'Doye has at least contributed a few big moments too. Even Anderson has not taken advantage of some of the good positions he's got himself in.

It's not like he's not working hard either and had a really good game against Porto IMO. I'd rather he was active on the pitch than passive too.

He looks to me like he's carry the burden of the teams poor form on his back. I've always said his finishing is really really poor for a player of his talent. For a number 10 you'd think he'd be working on improving this every single day.

Yeah I get that impression too, wants to prove he is worth that money and get in the England squad. He had a nice effort vs Bournemouth, had that bad miss vs Chelsea though.
