His goal at Newcastle was a beauty!
Both goals away at Newcastle in the FA Cup, at home vs. them in the League, the free-kicks vs. Spurs in the FA Cup. He could really ping a long-range effort.
He was massively talented but never really received the national plaudits he deserved.
There's a great story of how Clough gazumped Harry Redknapp to sign him from Runcorn. Woan had agreed to move to Bournemouth but put his move back by a day so his dad could go with him when he signed. Clough allegedly read about the move on Teletext and asked one of his staff - who knew the Runcorn manager - to call him and ask what Woan was like.
'He's too good for Bournemouth' was the response and Forest offered more and hijacked the deal.
:Funny:

He actually used to get a lot of stick from our fans, in the days pre social media, was called lazy and people didn’t like his hair!

Good long read here in The Guardian, including a couple of snippets suggesting Postecoglou was rubbing players up the wrong way:

I have a theory.
Manager 1 - unexpected and very political.
Manager 2 - a bad appointment and known to attract negative media attention.
Manager 3 - the players know there's only so many times until they carry the blame. They want to play for their places, big future moves and world cup squads. Things have been that toxic they will want positivity themselves not just for the personal reasons mentioned above but they'll buy in because it's been so S**t.
The players know next time (short term) it will be them thrown under the bus

Despite my reservations he is here. Hope that he proves his detractors , including me , wrong. Happy to eat humble pie in 10 games time.
Welcome Sean, I will drink an American pisswater pint to you.

Reminds me of Cloughie when he went to Leeds and told them all to chuck all their achievements in the bin cos they got them by cheating :Up Yours: :Up Yours:

The article filled me with a bit of hope and right now a bland 0-0 would feel great.
Dyche makes a lot more sense than Ange did. Not a step forward by any stretch from nuno, more a sidestep, but if he can give our defence some resolve then maybe the likes of mgw, Cho and the new arrivals can begin to be more effective. And hopefully someone can score a goal as well.

A lot of the usual gloating on social media along the lines of “how long until Dyche falls out with their mad owner?”
Obviously not going to rise to that but I asked this yesterday, does anyone know if Dyche knows Marinakis considering how many of our home games he spends in the directors box?
I actually think they will get along just fine and Dyche clearly knows what he’s signed up for but obviously would help if there was an existing relationship.
