I think Fulham made Ivan Cavaleiro’s transfer permanent for more than that but otherwise I agree Paplane.

I don’t think we had to spend too much money as all the players I mentioned before are out I contract in the summer or available for loan. Also if we didn’t waste lots of money on useless loan signings we could have used that for the likes of  Mowatt.

I understand the FFP restrictions just wish we would have bought championship proven players that could have added to the squad.

Hard to disagree, all good suggestions that would've improved the team. Got to assume that they were more expensive/higher wages than Da Costa say I guess?

Lyle Taylor was surprising that he didnt move in Jan given his contract.

He surprised me how good he was last night. I'd written him off as being a flash in the pan. He's got something.

Hi all, Forest supporter for over 40 years and first time poster. I’ve been viewing this forum for a while and find it the best Forest forum out there. I really enjoy reading everyone’s posts.

In my humble opinion Lamouchi is doing a great job with the tools he has been given. The transfer recruitment from my point of view has been diabolical, bar Samba, Ribiero, Sow, Silva and to be fair Ameobi. The loan recruitment has been even worse. I can’t think of one loan player that has added any value.

This is the best chance we’ve had since Billy Davies was in charge and we should have gone for it in the January transfer window. We are in a position of strength, had a net profit from the summer transfer window and could have attracted good championship proven players. We could have signed the following players relatively cheaply as they are out of contract this summer - Alex Mowatt (Barnsley), Lyle Taylor (Charlton) Kamil Grosicki (now West Brom) and Harry Cornick (Luton). Two we were linked with before and these would have sorted out a lot of our issues and made our 18 man team squad a lot stronger. In addition to this we could have loaned Ryan Woods from Stoke who could have filled in well for Sow.

I also think we should have sold Carvalho if we are not going to use him. As much as I like him he is not a Cgampionship player especially if you don’t build your team around him

Sorry for the rant but if we don’t go up this season then will we be stronger next year. I don’t think so - Cash, Worrall, Lolley and Samba will all be sought after. Grabban, Sow and Watson a year older. Will Lamouchi still be with us. This is the best chance we will have for a while let’s play our strongest team as often as possible and maybe just maybe we can do it this year

We've known what we have needed since last Summer.  The January recruitment doesn't seem all that convincing to me.

Car'.  I think he's finished at Forest.

Last night, if anyone needed empirical evidence, that Sow, and Forest's fates are inextricably linked.

We'll 'drop like a stone' without him.

Charlton scored with their only chance?  Forest with half the side that played Leeds, out...seemed all huff and puff and dominated by Charlton no less.

'Team that hasn't won since the stone age...gifted win by Forest....' etc.  etc.

You know that saying?  A bird in the hand?  Get the Charlton win.  Then deal with WBA.

Still, Sow, Grabban and Ameobi were doubts.  So you can't risk them.  Could have played Rib and Cash though, which the Coach put his hand up for that mistake.

So frustrating.  We needed three really good players in Jan'.  One for Sow.  A winger for Lolley.  And a striker for Grabban.

Did we bring in fit, battle hardened 'Championship ready' players?  It seems they'll need their own pre-season to get ready for the Forest 1st 11.

It was poor.  As bad as vs Birmingham.  Forest seemed lost.  

We need that 1st 11 to keep fit.  Sow and Grabban.  Most certainly.

Now that we put the points in the bin before we even kicked a ball vs Charlton...the pressure is on vs WBA.  If SoW or Grabban don't play?  

I don't see Forest getting the points there.  So that will be 6 points thrown away after sound performances vs Brentford and Leeds.

Frustrating.  I didn't have a good feeling before Charlton.  I couldn't see Forest winning it.  They didn't.

If the manager says Grabban, Sami and Sow haven't trained and were injured I can't believe people don't take that as gospel.

SL has made team changes before in periods of fixture congestion. BUT he has got us where we are and we have to trust him, there is still about a third of the season left to play.

Personally think we're being deluded that we can get automatic promotion BUT playoffs are realistic on the form we've shown.
We need our key players for the majority of remaining games, not risking them for a game where we might go second in early Feb. That counts for nothing.

As others have said recruitment in the window can be questioned, we've been too nice. We could have kept Robinson to the end of his contract. We could have told Chema he couldn't leave until the summer. We could have told Adomah that he came in as a squad player and he had to stay. Bong is not as good as either defender mentioned. Diakhaby has far less 'nous' than Adomah and looks very raw. I'll reserve judgement on Da Costa and I do think Walker can score goals at this level, however the squad appears weaker to me after the window. I hope we don't slip off the pace, heaven forbid be overtaken by the sheep and end up throwing this window back at the club.

That said it's far from over, we play loads of the teams in and around us in the run in, it's in our hands. Can't believe some are questioning the manager, I'd give him a new contract tomorrow.

Yes he has made ‘changes before in periods of fixture congestion’ - and cost us points then as well.
This is not the first time - hence the frustration. He hasn’t learned from previous mistakes.

Lets move on and cross fingers on the injury front for the rest of the season.

The manager got this game very wrong but why is everybody convinced our best 11 win this game? This was exactly the sort of game at home we've been losing all season. Against these sort of teams we're just too deep, too slow and play in straight lines with no movement. Only Silva tries to find space for himself. Nobody ever runs in behind their defense to stretch the game. Just so so predictable. We need a different approach to teams that park the bus.

The result, if nothing else, has taken the wind out of our sails as fans. No one likes to lose but you always want the team to compete. The team performance was so disappointing that tge feeling is crushing to morale. There just seemed so few ideas and not one of the new recruits looks like replacing those that left - let alone improve the team.

There is a long way to go. My fear is will this squad be good enough to hang in the promotion picture.

There's no point us nackering the players out. If we only reach the playoffs anyway, then said players end up nackard for them.

Sab needs a better squad with more quality in depth. Few other managers would have the current squad doing as well.

No one seems to have noticed the Charlton goal, it was superb and we had no chance once Lolley had been beaten to the ball.

We don’t have the quality in depth and last night proved that but there was no need to change the full backs.

The position we were in, I don’t feel real quality was added and certainly nothing that is going to make an immediate impact and improve us right here and now.

Are we still in a mess financially I don’t know, obviously we gambled big on Carvalho and have had no real return.

My worry is that we miss out, manager is aggrieved at transfer policy and gets a better offer. Despite getting it badly wrong last night, he is clearly the best we’ve had since Davies first time round.

I think this year was there for the taking with adequate backup for Sow/Grabban whilst now we’re reliant on keeping everyone fit which is a dangerous game.
