Nottingham Forest - Millwall

"Forest can dream again but the cycle of hope and heartbreak must end

For the last 22 years, Nottingham Forest have been seeking a return to the top table of English football but have largely resembled a dog trying to chase its own tail.

Managers have come and gone. So too have countless players. Millions have been invested but wasted. Hopes soar but are then shattered.

For the last 10 years, in particular, it has been a carousel of disappointment.

In many ways, it feels like the excellent Bill Murray film Groundhog Day in which he lives the same 24 hours until he can perfect the chain of events that will unleash him from the hell of repetition."

Hopefully, this Saturday is the dawning of the age of Aquarius.

Agree with Jasper, I think Coops will give the team that played last week the chance to go again, only change he may consider is bring in Mbe Soh and drop Figs as he would either bring or pass the ball out of defence which is how Coops likes his teams to play.

But Figs is just the type of player you need on the pitch versus bully boys like Millwall. He heads and kicks the ball really very well. That's all you want with two better players either side of him. As you say, its the rest of his game that lets him down but a back 3 can really suit his game I think.

it's been a long time but a ball playing mobile centre back has always appealed to me, we've been so rigid for so long, but it does get interesting when a CB, McKenna wants to, and decides to take the game by the scruff of the neck and break the status quo and go for a rampage across the halfway line

it can add new dimensions and avoid the need for 20 passes to get out our own half, just a bit of confidence, it was interesting that CH tried Yates at CB v Bradford

But an even more fluid version of the set up versus Hudders, but maybe it's too soon, but then do you wait for confidence too happen or just get them to go out believing they are the better side?

Interesting thoughts  from Jolly and Pap'.

I'd like to think those 3 CHs could stand up to most challenges in the Championship. Thought the formation suited the players we have in our squad better. Given a more compact shape, Forest defended and attacked better. Due to the wing backs adding that multiplier in defence and attack. And a more intense front foot higher press.

I hope it works as well vs Millwall. But having Worrall, McKenna, Figs, Yates on the pitch vs Rowett's muck and nettles side is no bad thing in my view.
